Part-Time Paraprofessional - Recess Supervision & Food Service Point of Sale
Position Summary
Menahga Public Schools is seeking a dependable and student-centered Part-Time Paraprofessional to assist with student supervision during recess periods and support the school nutrition program by operating the food service Point of Sale (POS) system during meal service. This position plays an important role in maintaining a safe, positive environment for students while ensuring efficient meal service operations.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Recess Supervision
  • Supervise students during outdoor and indoor recess periods.
  • Promote safe, respectful, and inclusive student behavior.
  • Monitor playground activities and intervene appropriately when safety concerns arise.
  • Assist students in resolving minor conflicts and reinforce school expectations.
  • Communicate student concerns, injuries, or behavioral issues to appropriate staff.
  • Ensure students enter and exit recess areas safely and on schedule.

Food Service Point of Sale Duties
  • Operate the food service Point of Sale (POS) system during lunch service.
  • Accurately record student meal transactions.
  • Assist students with meal account questions and basic meal service procedures.
  • Maintain confidentiality of student account information.
  • Work collaboratively with food service staff to ensure efficient meal service.
  • Follow district procedures and state and federal school nutrition program requirements.
  • Assist with light clerical duties related to meal service as assigned.

General Responsibilities
  • Maintain positive relationships with students, staff, and families.
  • Follow district policies, procedures, and safety guidelines.
  • Attend required trainings and meetings.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor.

Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Ability to work effectively with children of various ages.

Physical Requirements

Work Schedule
Part-time position following the student school calendar. Elementary daily hours will be scheduled during student meal periods 10:30 to 12:30 pm and recess times 10:30 to 2:30 pm. High School Daily hours will be scheduled during student meal periods 11:50 to 1:20 pm.
