William Blair Investment Management is seeking an experienced, innovative, and proactive Channel Marketing Manager for our Intermediary Distribution Channel to oversee campaign strategy, segmentation, and product marketing that drives brand awareness and product adoption. This role will be responsible for translating ideas into market-ready campaigns quickly and efficiently, balancing speed to market with quality and consistency, helping to attract and retain clients.
In this role, you will act as an active business partner to the intermediary distribution channel and have responsibility for helping shape marketing strategies, including creating differentiated content and executing integrated marketing plans targeting advisors, gatekeepers, and financial institutions throughout the buying journey. You will partner closely with business leaders to improve awareness of our investment capabilities and help ensure our investment strategies remain top of mind among key intermediary investor segments. You will collaborate with other marketing colleagues to develop relevant, creative, and targeted content and distribute it through various marketing channels aimed at the intermediary market. You will leverage data to inform segmentation strategies, make decisions, and measure results.
The ideal candidate will combine investment and marketing knowledge with a keen understanding of the intermediary distribution process. We seek a strategic, curious marketer with strong communication and execution skills, who thrives in collaborative teams. This role is critical to increasing the speed, relevance, and impact of marketing support for the intermediary distribution channel.
Responsibilities
  • Develop strategy and tactics for engaging intermediary clients and prospects, with a focus on measurable outcomes. Marketing activities will center on:
    • Developing compelling campaigns and differentiated content relevant and specific to the intermediary distribution channel
    • Increasing brand awareness and engagement
    • Promoting our products and solutions to improve adoption of our capabilities
  • Drive speed to market by rapidly developing, prioritizing, and executing campaigns and content in response to product, market, and distribution needs-while maintaining quality and consistency. Work closely with key stakeholders, including Intermediary Distribution Team, Product Team, Investment Teams, Marketing Team.
  • Ensure strong engagement and alignment with intermediary distribution team leadership
  • Interview and collaborate with investment teams (portfolio managers, analysts, and portfolio specialists), sales and client service teams, and marketing colleagues to create thought leadership and value-add programs that help drive engagement
  • Develop more frequent product and market updates and insights beyond quarter-end
  • Write compelling content that drives digital engagement
  • Create targeted messaging and thought leadership outreach to support the intermediary distribution channel and help build the brand
  • Provide insight and support for media programs that target the intermediary channel
  • Leverage data and metrics and use research to continuously improve engagement and ability to target and personalize content
  • Demonstrate initiative and creativity in independently recommending and implementing marketing solutions
  • Communicate progress, issues, and solutions

Preferred Qualifications
  • 10+ years financial services experience, ideally within asset management industry
  • Experience in intermediary distribution channel marketing
  • Experience in marketing a range of investment products, including ETFs, SMAs, mutual funds, private credit
  • Results-driven self-starter with a keen focus on attention to detail
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent
  • Strong writer who can synthesize complex topics
  • Client-centric focus
  • Intellectually curious with a strong work ethic and professional demeanor
  • Proven track record in driving engagement and adoption of investment products in any capacity (sales, marketing, investment specialist, etc.).
  • Superior interpersonal skills and clear communicator - including the ability to work effectively in various team settings
  • Digital communications/marketing tool experience and knowledge
  • Strong leadership, strategy, and communication skills
  • Ability to manage competing priorities and perspectives
  • Demonstrated success in a team-oriented environment
  • Deep knowledge of investment products, capital markets, and macroeconomic topics
  • Experience writing and editing documents with a range of complexity from product promotions to white papers
  • Ability to adjust tone and message for specific audiences and diverse formats
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite

This role is eligible for either a discretionary annual bonus (based on company, business unit and individual performance) and/or commission-based incentives.
