Pay Information:Internal Hires: Step placement and rate of pay will be determined based on applicable personnel rule or union contract terms.External Hires: Step placement and rate of pay will be determined based on relevant experience.
  • Food Service Assistant 1 starts at $20.47 per hour
  • Food Service Assistant 2 starts at $22.40 per hour
Please note:In lieu of fringe benefits, Casual employees will receive a $2.00 per hour differential.Job Summary:

Food Service Assistant 1: Under close supervision, the Food Service Assistant 1 is responsible for supporting all aspects of food preparation and meal service within the hospital and Wildflower Court. The FSA 1 is expected to learn and perform a variety of tasks across food service operations while adhering to safety and sanitation standards.

Food Service Assistant 2: With greater independence and initiative, the Food Service Assistant 2 is responsible for performing a wide range of food service duties with proficiency and minimal supervision. In addition to core service functions, the FSA 2 assists with training new staff, helps coordinate shift activities, and demonstrates knowledge of therapeutic diets.

Minimum Qualifications for the JobFood Service Assistant 1:
  • Education: None
    • Preferred Education: High school diploma or equivalent
  • Experience: None
    • Preferred Experience: Previous experience in food service is preferred
  • License(s): None
  • Certification(s): Must obtain a State of Alaska Food Workers Card or Serve Safe within 30 days of hire.
Food Service Assistant 2:
  • Education: None
    • Preferred Education: High school diploma or equivalent
  • Experience: One (1) year of experience as an FSA 1 or comparable experience in an institutional food service setting.
  • License(s): None
  • Certification(s): State of Alaska Food Workers Card or Serve Safe
