Description
The Server position at Hog Island Oyster Co. (HIOC) is an integral member of the restaurant team and sets the tone of the restaurant, creating authentic experiences for our guests. For this role, you should have strong organizational and interpersonal skills to ensure our guests have a positive dining experience from the moment they arrive until their departure.
You will be responsible for greeting guests, providing accurate wait times, escorting customers to the dining and bar areas, and assisting with side work such as polishing silverware or folding napkins.
You will also be responsible for taking orders, serving food and beverages, checking on guest satisfaction, answering questions about the menu and food, processing payments, communicating orders with the kitchen staff, and assisting with customer service and cleaning.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Assisting the guests' needs
  • Filling in where needed to ensure guest service standards and efficient operations.
  • Complete knowledge of the menu and able to make suggestions based on guest preferences
  • Ensure the timely and accurate serving of orders, offering promotional menus and other additional services.
  • Set up and breakdown of tables
  • Keeping all tables and eating spaces clean and tidy
  • Ensure that all equipment is being kept clean and in excellent working condition
  • Be knowledgeable of restaurant, rules and procedures
  • Communicate in a timely manner, while being open and respectful
  • Taking reservations and managing wait times
  • Seating guests and distributing menus
  • Handling to-go orders
  • Adhere to all relevant health department rules/regulations and all customer service guidelines
