Job description

Job Overview

In alignment with Gallaher Signature Living’s mission and values, the Server delivers an elevated dining experience that reflects the community’s boutique hospitality standards. The Server is responsible for providing attentive, gracious, and professional food and beverage service to residents, family members, and guests while maintaining a clean, safe, and welcoming dining environment. All duties are performed in compliance with Company policies and procedures and all applicable federal, state, and local regulations, including Title 22.

Compensation: $18.75-$21.50/hour

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide refined, courteous, and efficient meal service to residents, family members, and guests, ensuring dignity, respect, and personalized attention always.
  • Serve, prepare, and replenish beverages—including water, coffee, tea, soda, wine, beer, and cocktails—using appropriate glassware and presentation standards.
  • Open, pour, and serve wine and beer in accordance with responsible alcohol service guidelines, as applicable.
  • Stock and maintain bar areas with wine, beer, spirits, mixers, and garnishes; communicate inventory needs to the Executive Chef or designee.
  • Accurately take and enter food and beverage orders into the Point of Sale (POS) system, including residents’ meals, guest dining, employee meals, and to-go orders.
  • Verify accuracy of all orders prior to service, including special requests, dietary needs, and menu substitutions.
  • Demonstrate thorough knowledge of menus, daily specials, ingredients, and preparation methods to confidently assist residents and guests with menu selections.
  • Ensure plates are attractively presented prior to service and deliver meals using proper tray service techniques, tray stands, and delivery procedures.
  • Follow established fine-dining service standards and etiquette, including appropriate table service, course clearing, and guest engagement.
  • Prepare and maintain dining room tables and service stations with proper linens, china, glassware, flatware, condiments, and service supplies.
  • Reset and “flip” tables promptly and professionally to support smooth dining service.
  • Clear and bus tables efficiently; transport dishes to the kitchen and assist with dishwashing or kitchen support as needed.
  • Maintain a clean, sanitary, and organized work environment at all times in accordance with food safety and sanitation standards.
  • Assist with meal delivery to resident apartments as required.
  • Interact with residents in a warm, respectful, and attentive manner, recognizing each resident as an individual and responding thoughtfully to preferences and needs.
  • Address resident questions or concerns with professionalism and empathy, escalating matters to leadership when appropriate.
  • Support the community’s hospitality and marketing efforts through positive engagement during tours, events, and interactions with prospective residents and guests.
  • Foster a culture of teamwork and collaboration across departments to ensure a seamless resident experience.
  • Maintain a safe, secure environment for residents, guests, and team members by adhering to all established safety protocols, including:
  • Illness and Injury Prevention Program (IIPP)
  • Universal Precautions and Bloodborne Pathogens
  • Emergency, Evacuation, and Disaster Preparedness Plans
  • Resident Elopement Prevention Procedures
  • Promptly report occupational exposure to blood, bodily fluids, infectious materials, or hazardous chemicals in accordance with Company policy.
  • Observe and report any changes in a resident’s condition following established procedures.
  • Complete all required training, certifications, in-services, and meetings as mandated by state licensure and Company standards, including compliance with Title 22 regulations.
  • Participate in daily department “Stand-Up” meetings to support communication and operational excellence.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned to meet operational and resident care needs.

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Must be at least eighteen (18) years of age.
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Minimum of six (6) months of experience in food and beverage service preferred; hospitality or fine-dining experience a plus.
  • Ability to safely operate food service equipment and utensils commonly used in professional dining environments.
  • Knowledge of, or willingness to learn, assisted living operations and dementia awareness.
  • Demonstrated ability to work compassionately and patiently with older adults, including individuals with cognitive impairment.
  • Ability to operate standard office and facility equipment, including POS systems and timekeeping devices.
  • Strong communication skills; ability to read, write, and speak English effectively.
  • Highly motivated, dependable, and able to work both independently and as part of a team.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain required certifications, including Food Handler’s Permit and First Aid/CPR, as applicable.
  • Must successfully pass all required background checks, health screenings, and immunization requirements in accordance with Company policy and applicable law.
