Summary Of Role

The Accounting Manager is responsible for overseeing the daily accounting operations, ensuring the accuracy and integrity of financial records, regulatory reporting, reconciliations, and internal controls. This position manages accounting processes related to the general ledger, month-end close, financial reporting, and operational accounting functions while supporting the strategic and regulatory objectives. The Accounting Manager partners with departments across the organization to ensure timely and accurate financial reporting, compliance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP), and adherence to banking regulations and internal policies.

Major Duties and Responsibilities

  • Review and approve account reconciliations, investigate unreconciled items, and ensure corrective action is taken when necessary.
  • Manage the daily accounting operations, including general ledger activity, reconciliations, journal entries, and financial reporting.
  • Process and disburse funds, prepare financial reports, and collaborate with departments across the organization to ensure accurate and timely accounting information.
  • Perform daily or monthly reconciliations of asset, liability and/or equity accounts.
  • Oversee month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closing processes to ensure timely and accurate reporting.
  • Respond to internal and external inquiries regarding general ledger reconciliation or operational activity.
  • Prepare and review financial statements, management reports, and supporting schedules.
  • Assist with regulatory reporting and external reporting requirements.
  • Support internal and external audits by preparing requested documentation and responding to inquiries.
  • Monitor accounting workflows and identify opportunities for process improvements, automation, and operational efficiencies.
  • Collaborate with operational departments to research accounting issues and resolve discrepancies.
  • Participate in budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis activities as needed.
  • Maintain confidentiality of financial, customer, employee, and organizational information.
  • Perform additional duties and special projects as assigned by management.

KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS

EXPERIENCE
Minimum of 5–7 years of accounting or finance experience required, preferably within the banking or financial services industry.
EDUCATION/CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSESBachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance or related field.

INTERPERSONAL SKILLSA high level of professionalism, discretion, and confidentiality is essential in this role. The Accounting Manager regularly interacts with executive leadership, employees, auditors, regulators, and external vendors regarding sensitive financial information. This position requires the ability to effectively communicate, influence, advise, and collaborate across all levels of the organization.

ROLE IMPORTANT BEHAVIORAL SKILLS

  • Strong understanding of GAAP, financial reporting, and banking accounting practices.
  • Working knowledge of bank operations, financial institution products, and regulatory requirements.
