Job Overview

Sequel Med Tech is seeking a highly strategic and analytically driven Vice President, Commercial Excellence to lead and evolve our commercial operations function. This role will serve as the head of Sales Operations while acting as a critical thought partner to the SVP of Market Access, Sales and Government Affairs.

The VP, Commercial Excellence will be responsible not only for building and optimizing the infrastructure that supports commercial execution, but also for synthesizing insights across Sales, Market Access, Trade, and Government Affairs to inform enterprise-level decision-making. This leader will translate complex, cross-functional dynamics into clear, data-driven narratives that shape commercial strategy, guide investment decisions, and inform the executive team and Board.

As a growth-stage company, this is a highly hands-on, "working VP" role. The ideal candidate will be equally comfortable in setting strategy and executing against it-rolling up their sleeves to build, analyze, and problem-solve directly. This role requires a builder's mindset: someone who thrives in ambiguity, enjoys creating scalable processes from the ground up, and takes pride in designing solutions that will evolve with the company's growth.

This is a highly visible role with a significant impact on company performance and trajectory.

Job Responsibilities and Essential Duties
  • Lead and evolve Sequel's commercial operations function to support growth and long-term scalability.
  • Serve as a strategic advisor to the SVP, providing a holistic view of commercial performance and forward-looking opportunities.
  • Build a best-in-class Commercial Excellence function that integrates analytics, planning, and operational execution.
  • Balance strategic leadership with hands-on execution, actively contributing to analyses, building models, and solving complex business problems directly.
  • Develop and lead a high-performing team across sales operations, analytics, and commercial planning.
  • Own the development of a comprehensive commercial analytics framework that integrates data across sales, market access, trade, and government affairs.
  • Identify key business drivers and interdependencies, translating them into actionable insights and strategic recommendations.
  • Lead scenario modeling and predictive analytics to forecast performance under varying market conditions.
  • Personally engage in deep-dive analyses and model building.
  • Develop and refine KPIs and dashboards that provide visibility into both performance and leading indicators of future growth
  • Synthesize complex datasets and cross-functional inputs into clear, compelling narratives for executive leadership and the Board.
  • Translate developments (e.g., changes in payor coverage, channel expansion, policy shifts) into quantified commercial impact.
  • Lead commercial forecasting and long-range planning processes, including revenue projections and market expansion scenarios.
  • Partner with Finance and executive leadership on annual planning, investment prioritization, and resource allocation.
  • Oversee all core sales operations capabilities, including sales forecasting and planning, territory design and alignment, incentive compensation strategy and administration, and CRM and commercial systems optimization.
  • Ensure operational excellence in execution while continuously improving systems and processes.
  • Directly contribute to building and refining tools, processes, and outputs.
  • Partner closely with Sales leadership to optimize field effectiveness and productivity.
  • Partner with Market Access, Trade, and Government Affairs to understand evolving dynamics in coverage, reimbursement, and channel strategy.
  • Integrate insights from these functions into commercial forecasts and strategic plans.
  • Ensure alignment between commercial strategy and execution across all channels and stakeholders.
  • Play a leadership role in ongoing launch optimization, using real-time data to refine strategy and execution.
  • Identify opportunities to accelerate growth, expand market penetration, and improve commercial return on investment.
  • Monitor competitive dynamics and market trends to inform strategic adjustments.
  • Build organizational capabilities that scale with company growth.
  • Act as a senior leader within the commercial organization, contributing to broader company strategy.
ย
Minimum Requirements
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Business, Life Sciences, or related field; MBA or advanced degree preferred
