Seo Developer information

What does an SEO developer do?

An SEO Developer is responsible for optimizing websites and web applications to improve their visibility and ranking on search engines like Google. This role combines web development skills with a strong understanding of search engine optimization techniques, such as optimizing site structure, metadata, and page loading speed. SEO Developers often collaborate with content creators and marketing teams to ensure that both the technical and content aspects of a website are aligned with SEO best practices. Their work helps drive organic traffic to websites, ultimately increasing brand visibility and potential revenue.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as an SEO developer, and why are they important?

To thrive as an SEO Developer, you need a solid understanding of web development (HTML, CSS, JavaScript), search engine algorithms, and on-page/off-page SEO strategies, often supported by a degree in computer science or related field. Familiarity with tools like Google Analytics, Search Console, SEMrush, and content management systems is essential. Analytical thinking, problem-solving abilities, and strong communication skills help SEO Developers implement effective strategies and collaborate with marketing teams. These skills are crucial for improving website visibility, driving organic traffic, and achieving measurable business growth online.

What are some common challenges SEO developers face when collaborating with content and web development teams?

SEO Developers often work closely with content creators and web developers to ensure that websites are both user-friendly and optimized for search engines. A common challenge is aligning technical SEO requirements—such as site speed, mobile responsiveness, and structured data—with creative content strategies and design choices. Effective communication and a willingness to educate team members about SEO best practices are key to overcoming these obstacles. Regular collaboration and clear documentation help ensure that SEO goals are integrated into the development process from the start.

What is the difference between Seo Developer vs Seo Specialist?

Understanding these differences helps employers and job seekers target the right skills and responsibilities.

Is it hard to get a job in SEO?

Meds

Job description

Overview
Meds.com is a rapidly growing consumer technology firm operating a suite of healthcare businesses, including our flagship brand BlueChew. Our mission is to better patients' lives through innovative healthcare solutions. With a team of 350 professionals across various specialties, we've built scalable pharmacy, telemedicine, and e-commerce platforms using cutting-edge technology. As we continue our accelerated growth trajectory, we're launching new products to expand our patient base and accelerate growth. Join us in tackling exciting challenges at the intersection of healthcare and technology.
We are seeking a highly analytical and hands-on Technical SEO Specialist to join our growth marketing team in Austin, TX. In this role, you will lead the architecture, technical health, and organic performance of our digital platforms.
Because Meds.com operates in a fast-evolving web landscape, you will partner directly with engineering, product, and content teams to solve complex indexing challenges, optimize Core Web Vitals, and scale web performance to maximize organic traffic and conversions.
Responsibilities
  • Technical Site Audits & Health: Conduct ongoing technical SEO audits across web properties to identify and fix crawl errors, indexation bottlenecks, render issues, broken links, and site architecture inefficiencies.

  • Core Web Vitals & Speed: Partner with engineering teams to monitor and improve page load times, mobile performance, render-blocking scripts, and overall Core Web Vitals (LCP, INP, CLS).

  • Information Architecture & Structuring: Optimize site navigation, XML sitemaps, robots.txt files, canonicalization, and internal link equity to maximize crawl budget and keyword visibility.

  • JavaScript & Dynamic SEO: Audit and resolve rendering issues related to dynamic framework execution (React/Next.js/Node environment context).

  • Structured Data: Implement and validate advanced Schema.org markup to expand rich snippet capabilities in search results.

  • Log File Analysis: Analyze server logs to track search engine bot behavior, identify crawl budget waste, and optimize path priorities.

  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Serve as the technical SEO expert embedded within product and web development sprint workflows, ensuring technical SEO requirements are baked into every site release.

  • Performance Tracking & Analytics: Monitor organic rankings, site metrics, and crawl stats using Google Search Console, Screaming Frog, and enterprise analytics; communicate findings to stakeholders.

Qualifications
  • Experience: 5-6+ years of dedicated technical SEO experience, ideally within e-commerce, telehealth, or high-volume DTC web platforms.

  • Technical Proficiency: Deep understanding of HTML, CSS, JavaScript (client-side vs. server-side rendering), HTTP status codes, and web hosting architectures.

  • Tooling Expertise: Advanced hands-on experience with technical SEO toolsets, including:

    • Google Search Console & Google Analytics 4 (GA4)

    • Crawling tools (Screaming Frog, Deepcrawl/Lumar, Botify)

    • SEO Suites (Ahrefs, Semrush, Moz)

    • Speed & Performance tools (Lighthouse, PageSpeed Insights, WebPageTest)

  • Problem-Solving: Strong analytical abilities to spot trends in raw data and convert technical issues into prioritized tickets for developers.

  • Communication: Ability to distill complex technical SEO needs into clear visual specs, stories, and business cases for product managers and engineers.

  • Local Presence: Located in Austin, TX area for hybrid/in-office collaboration.

We are looking for top talent that wants to make a measurable impact in an exciting, fast-paced environment. This role is full-time in Austin, TX.
