Job description

Sentry is seeking an analytical and results driven individual to fill an opening as a Senior Actuarial Analyst within Sentry’s National Accounts business unit. Sentry’s National Accounts insures some of the nation’s largest companies providing their Workers Compensation insurance needs. Whether monitoring rate adequacy, managing corporate insurance risks, or calculating insurance rates, our Actuaries combine refined analytical skills with business acumen to provide cutting-edge solutions to real world insurance problems.

This position will be located at our Office in Stevens Point, WI and is not a fully remote opportunity.

For this position, Sentry does not offer employment to holders of F-1, J-1, and H-1 Visas.

What You'll Do

As a Senior Actuarial Analyst you will:

  • Support loss sensitive pricing for our large accounts focusing primarily on Workers Compensation, but also Commercial Automobile and General Liability.

  • Apply and recommend changes to actuarial techniques and procedures such as those used in evaluating loss and expense reserves, preparing rate filings, and establishing rating/pricing levels.

  • Perform and coordinate research projects.

  • Summarize and analyze trend observations, analyze impact on profit and growth objectives and make recommendations when appropriate.

  • Prepare financial reports and complete analytical actuarial studies.

  • Calculate premiums or reserves for products and perform related complex analysis including collecting and analyzing data to determine the affects of various components.

  • Perform advanced statistical analysis of management issues and make recommendations supporting analysis.

  • Additionally, you will:

  • Provide advanced technical actuarial support for other departments as needed.

  • Recommend and initiate advanced actuarial techniques.

What it Takes

  • Bachelors Degree or equivalent work experience with an emphasis in mathematics or actuarial science.

  • 3-6 years experience in an actuarial environment.

  • 2+ years of related work experience.

  • Completed 4 or more actuarial exams

  • Strong background in statistics, economics, computers, finance business, or accounting.
