Position Overview

Sentara Physical Therapy Center is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Physical Therapist (PT) to join our dynamic healthcare team in Saint Petersburg, Florida. As a full-time outpatient therapist, you will play a crucial role in rehabilitating patients and enhancing their quality of life. Work Environment

This role is based onsite in our outpatient office, enabling direct interaction with patients in a focused therapeutic setting. The schedule is primarily Monday to Friday, allowing for a healthy work-life balance.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct thorough evaluations of patients’ physical capabilities and health histories to develop individualized treatment plans.
  • Employ a variety of therapeutic techniques such as therapeutic exercises, manual therapy, and modalities to alleviate pain and enhance mobility.
  • Encourage patient engagement through education about their conditions and the importance of consistent therapy adherence.
  • Document assessments, treatment plans, and progress notes meticulously to track patient outcomes and adjust treatment strategies as needed.
  • Collaborate with physicians and other healthcare professionals to ensure comprehensive patient care and successful recovery pathways.
  • Offer recommendations for assistive devices and home exercise programs tailored to patients’ specific needs.
  • Perform regular re-evaluations to monitor progress in achieving therapeutic goals and revise treatment plans accordingly.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge in the field by participating in continued education and professional development opportunities.
Patient Population / Client Focus

You will work closely with a varied patient population, which may include individuals recovering from orthopedic surgeries, athletes with sports-related injuries, and geriatric patients facing mobility challenges. This rich diversity requires adaptability and attentiveness, ensuring that therapy sessions are not only clinically effective but also sensitive to the emotional and physical needs of each patient.

Qualifications
  • A Bachelor’s Degree in Physical Therapy is required, with a Doctorate in Physical Therapy (DPT) preferred.
  • Current and valid licensure as a Physical Therapist in the state of Florida.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills to clearly convey information to patients, families, and team members.
  • Proficient computer skills for documentation and charting and familiarity with electronic health records (EHR) systems.
  • A flexible approach towards scheduling and patient management.
Preferred Experience
  • At least two years of experience in an outpatient setting is preferred, though recent graduates with relevant internships will also be considered.
  • Experience using various therapeutic modalities and techniques suited for outpatient therapy.
