Job description

System Administrator, Senior

The Opportunity:

Your combination of people skills and system administrator expertise makes you the team hero, solving one problem after another. What if you could use those skills to improve the technology supporting the Department of War? We're looking for a system administrator who specializes in enterprise-level system and network administration and managing secure, multi-domain environments to help our customer deploy and maintain mission-critical IT infrastructure, strengthen their cybersecurity posture, and enhance the readiness of technology systems.

As a system administrator on our project, you'll ensure the current infrastructure is functional and available and implement the best strategies for updating and patching critical systems. You'll be responsible for managing the infrastructure, architecture, security, and performance of our customer's systems and environments. You'll provide your customers insight into their network through monitoring and performance management.

Your system administrator expertise will be vital as you identify problem areas and opportunities for improvement in a mission-critical network. You'll help your team better understand the network by turning metrics into information and explaining their meaning.

This is an opportunity to broaden your skillset into areas like risk management and project management applications and methodologies. We focus on growing as a team, so you'll share your expertise through leadership and mentoring as you help the team work through challenges and develop new methodologies. As a systems administrator leader, you'll identify new opportunities to modernize the network, so your clients achieve their goals. Work with us and resolve daily challenges as we improve the reliability, security, and performance of our customer's systems and environments.

Join us. The world can't wait.

You Have:

  • 8+ years of experience in a system administration or network administration role

  • 8+ years of experience providing Tiers I and II support for Windowsbased systems such as user account and permissions or access control management, printer and device connectivity, basic workstation and network troubleshooting, system log analysis and error resolution, performance remediation, imaging and re-imaging, system and endpoint updates, or configuration changes

  • Experience with managed database systems such as Oracle or Postgres

  • Knowledge of workflows required to install, configure, administer, manage, or maintain network infrastructure including routers, switches, firewalls, Windows physical and virtual server environments, or operating systems

  • Ability to maintain documentation of system configurations and procedures, and provide reports on system performance, incidents, and maintenance activities

  • Active TS/SCI clearance; willingness to take a polygraph exam

  • Bachelor's degree and 10+ years of experience in Systems or Network Administration, or Master's degree and 8+ years of experience in Systems or Network Administration

  • IAT Level 2 Certification or higher

Nice If You Have:

  • Experience as a Systems Administrator in the Department of War or intelligence community

  • Experience with cloud computing, digital security, and SQL

  • Experience coordinating across multiple IT organizations across echelons, both internal and external, to complete complex coordination or troubleshooting tasks

  • Experience using structured troubleshooting frameworks or ticketing systems, such as Jira, Kanban, or Microsoft Office365, to document issues, complete root case analysis, and build a local knowledge base for the team

  • Knowledge of systems security procedures and compliance measures, including maintaining and reviewing audit files, and adhering to government policies and industry standards

  • Ability to assist in planning and executing IT projects, such as system upgrades, migrations, or new technology deployments

  • Possession of problem-solving and communication skills to interact effectively with both technical and non-technical users and collaborate across multiple teams and external entities

  • Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP), CompTIA Network+, Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA), or Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP) Certification

  • Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL) Certification

Clearance:
