Job description

Company Description
While this position is remote, we're looking for candidates that live in the U.S. This is to facilitate communication and coordination with internal teams and clients.
Strategic smarts + technical expertise + artistic magic. Here, that's our not-so-secret sauce for cooking up marketing that doesn't just capture attention - it drives real business growth for our clients.
We support organizations across a wide range of industries, offering services including branding, web design/development, SEO, digital advertising, and content creation, where strategic consulting is a given. We serve as guides and advisors to clients, navigating them through the complexities of the digital landscape. Our Creative team also plays the crucial role of storytellers, bringing narratives to life that resonate with audiences and drive meaningful engagement.
At The Digital Ring, we describe ourselves as being "data-driven, human-focused"; while data and tech form the backbone of our marketing strategy, we never lose sight of the human element. Our approach is centered on understanding the needs, emotions, and aspirations of our audience, ensuring that every campaign resonates on a human level and fosters genuine connections with our clients and their customers.
Job Description
We're on the hunt for an experienced Web Development Specialist to build, maintain, and optimize the branded marketing and e-commerce websites that anchor our clients' digital presence. As we continue growing our agency, we need a developer who's as comfortable diagnosing a broken checkout flow on a Shopify store as they are scoping a full WordPress build from a Figma file - and who can move between the two without losing a step. Expect the work to split roughly down the middle: about half keeping existing sites fast, secure, accessible, and reliable, and about half building new sites, features, and enhancements.
This is a multi-client agency environment, which means you'll move between several projects in a single day. Priorities shift, interruptions happen, and the person who thrives here is the one who can switch gears quickly without dropping quality. In this role, the Senior Web Specialist will demonstrate ownership over their work. We don't want someone who waits to be told what to do; we're looking for an individual with initiative - someone who can pull from the project queue, judge what matters most, and keep work moving toward the finish line.
You'll also be the technical voice in the room. That means serving as the go-to resource when a build gets complicated, setting the standards and workflows the rest of the team develops against, and mentoring other developers through code review and knowledge sharing. Just as importantly, it means translating: this role works shoulder-to-shoulder with design, copy, digital, account management, and leadership, so you'll need to explain technical tradeoffs to non-technical audiences clearly enough that everyone can make a good decision together.
Other things this role entails:
  • Maintaining, updating, and troubleshooting existing WordPress and Shopify marketing and e-commerce sites, with an eye on performance, security, accessibility, and SEO best practices
  • Developing and enhancing sites across WordPress, WooCommerce, Shopify, and BigCommerce - working within existing themes and frameworks, with custom development where the project calls for it
  • Translating UX/UI recommendations from Figma into accurate, high-quality builds in close collaboration with our design and digital teams
  • Building, testing, and deploying marketing and email integrations, including Klaviyo and Mailchimp
  • Scoping projects with clients and account managers: assessing complexity, providing reliable time estimates, and flagging risks, dependencies, and scope creep before they become problems
  • Tracking project progress and communicating consistently across teams to keep handoffs smooth and expectations shared
  • Establishing, documenting, and upholding development standards and best practices across all web projects
  • Supporting other web developers through code review, technical guidance, and knowledge sharing
  • Keeping organized documentation, assets, and records for both active and completed work
  • Staying ahead of web development trends and recommending improvements that strengthen The Digital Ring's web capabilities
  • Identifying process improvements that increase efficiency, profitability, and team capacity

Qualifications
The ideal candidate will have:
  • At least 3 years of professional web development experience
  • At least 1 year of experience in a client-facing, multi-account agency role
  • A bachelor's degree in Web Development, Graphic Design, or a related field
  • Demonstrated professional experience with WordPress, WooCommerce, Shopify, Webflow, and comfort working from Figma files
  • Proficiency in HTML, CSS, PHP, JavaScript, and MySQL
  • Experience working within pre-built themes and corporate design systems
  • Familiarity with HubSpot, GTM, and Mailchimp integrations
  • SEO optimization and performance tuning experience
  • Proven ability to scope projects accurately, estimate timelines, and assess budget impact
  • Strong project management skills, with the ability to juggle multiple priorities and switch gears quickly
  • The ability to work effectively under frequent interruptions and shifting priorities
  • Strong organizational skills and a genuine attention to detail
  • Critical thinking and analytical problem-solving instincts
  • Prior experience mentoring or supporting other developers in an agency or team environment
  • A team-first mentality, with a willingness to mentor and support peers
  • Adaptability and openness to feedback
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical audiences
  • A collaborative, solutions-oriented mindset with a strong sense of ownership and accountability
