As part of UT Dell Medical School transformation into a world-class academic health enterprise, we are launching an Enterprise Human Capital Management (HCM) transformation centered on Workday, beginning in Fall 2026. To support this approximately 18-month implementation, we are recruiting both permanent and project-based HR and technology professionals who will help design, implement, and optimize Workday. This is a unique opportunity to build the foundational HR technology platform that will support the future University of Texas Dell Medical Center and the broader academic health enterprise.
The Senior Workday Integration Engineer serves as a technical lead and subject matter expert for Workday integration development, with a focus on complex HCM and Payroll integrations across tax, benefits, timekeeping, scheduling, and other enterprise systems. This role partners with architects, business stakeholders, and technical teams to design, implement, maintain, and optimize scalable Workday integration solutions.
Purpose
The Senior Workday Integration Engineer designs and develops complex HCM and Payroll system integrations between Workday and third-party enterprise applications. This role serves as a technical lead and subject matter expert in Workday integration development, providing guidance to team members while implementing robust integration solutions across tax, benefits, timekeeping, scheduling, and related enterprise systems.
The position collaborates with architects and stakeholders to develop scalable solutions while establishing development standards and best practices that support Dell Medical School's Workday HCM transformation.
Responsibilities
Technical Leadership
  • Serve as a technical lead for Workday integration development and provide expertise in interface design patterns and message transformation.
  • Establish development standards and best practices for Workday integration development.
  • Mentor junior developers in integration capabilities and Workday integration methodologies.
  • Provide technical guidance supporting scalable, reliable, and maintainable integration solutions.

Integration Development
  • Design and implement sophisticated integrations between Workday and third-party application systems.
  • Collaborate with architects and stakeholders to develop scalable integration solutions.
  • Develop and optimize Workday interfaces supporting HCM, Payroll, tax, benefits, timekeeping, scheduling, and related enterprise systems.
  • Create complex message flows and transformations.
  • Select appropriate integration patterns that maximize platform capabilities.
  • Develop integrations using Workday tools and technologies, including Workday Studio, Enterprise Interface Builder (EIB), and XML.

Maintenance and Support
  • Provide advanced troubleshooting for complex Workday and enterprise integration issues.
  • Manage performance optimization and interface monitoring.
  • Lead root cause analysis efforts for system issues across integrated platforms.
  • Support ongoing maintenance and operational stability of Workday integrations.
  • Participate in an on-call rotation as required.

Quality and Documentation
  • Maintain comprehensive technical documentation for Workday integrations and configurations.
  • Establish testing methodologies for interface deployments.
  • Ensure thorough validation of integration components through systematic testing procedures.

Required Qualifications

  • Active Workday Finance, HCM/Payroll, and Workday Studio certifications.
  • Experience with Workday integration tools and technologies, including Workday Studio, Enterprise Interface Builder (EIB), and XML.

Relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • Minimum of two years of experience supporting Workday integrations in a higher education or healthcare environment.
  • Familiarity with data security and privacy best practices.
  • Knowledge of additional enterprise systems and platforms such as Epic and Kodiak.
  • HL7 Certification.
  • Epic Bridges or Interconnect Certification.
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) Certification.
  • ITIL Foundation Certification.

Licenses/Registrations/Certifications

Salary Range
$110,000+ depending on qualifications
