Job description

The Position:

The Sr. Utilities Accountant will be hands on in calculating utility recovery for each of our tenants at each of our operating data centers. This role reports to the Accountant Manager, Utilities, and together, they will oversee utility usage, rates and financial impacts with regards to income statement and balance sheet. This role will work closely with operations, energy procurement, IT, FP&A, legal and external vendors to maximize revenue recovery. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Monthly Billing and Revenue:

  • Timely and accurate utilities and renewable energy credits, and annual true up billings to tenants.

  • Develop, utilize, and maintain utility billing system with specific attention to changes in tenants and data centers.

  • Monthly Reporting:

  • Flux analysis over varying periods of time.

  • Balance sheet reconciliations for utilities, and renewable energy credits.

  • Cost and Forecasting:

  • Develop, utilize, and maintain data analytic tools to track and analyze patterns in usage, cost and revenue recovery by tenant and data center for purposes of reporting and projected future state forecast.

  • Collaboration and Stakeholder Management:

  • Partner with operations, finance, sustainability, legal to deliver best in class products

  • Help with the development, implementation, and maintenance of standard operating procedures document for each operating data center.

  • Hybrid - 3 days a week in our Denver office with site visits to data center facilities.

  • Collaboration with internal teams

  • Occasional nights and weekends

THE DETAILS:

  • Location: Denver, CO (hybrid: 3 days/week in office required)

  • Travel: Less than 10% domestically

MUST HAVE QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in business administration, Finance, Engineering, or related field (Master's preferred).

  • Experience:

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in utility management, revenue management, or a similar role within the data center, facilities management, or energy sector.

  • Understands cost allocation, financial modeling, and technical accounting terms

  • Technical Skills:

  • Proficiency in data analysis and reporting tools (NetSuite, Excel, Power BI, Tableau, etc.).

  • Willingness to read and understand tenant lease agreements

  • Communication Skills:

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present professional technical information to non-technical stakeholders.

  • Problem-Solving:

  • Ability to identify issues and corrective actions in a fast-paced environment.

Compensation Range:

$94,340.00 - $104,940.00
