Job description

We are seeking a Quantitative UX Researcher on a contract basis to help support our customerโ€™s business needs. This role is on-site in Redmond, WA.

Responsibilities
  • Design and conduct quantitative UX research to support the development of audio-centric augmented reality (AR) and smart glasses experiences
  • Plan and execute lab-based perceptual and behavioral studies using experimental research methodologies
  • Design and conduct psychophysical and psychoacoustic evaluations for hearing-related product features
  • Develop research protocols, study designs, surveys, and evaluation frameworks
  • Partner with engineering and cross-functional stakeholders to translate technical questions into user-centered research studies
  • Coordinate recurring product evaluation sessions to collect user feedback and inform product development
  • Evaluate hearing-related features by assessing user perception, interaction, and overall experience
  • Analyze quantitative and qualitative research data using statistical methods
  • Develop custom research metrics and scoring frameworks to evaluate perceptual and user experience quality
  • Translate research findings into actionable UX recommendations and collaborate with product teams to implement improvements
  • Document research findings and communicate results through reports and presentations
  • Maintain research documentation and contribute to ongoing knowledge sharing and research best practices
Skills And Qualifications
  • Master's degree in Human Factors, Cognitive Psychology, Neuropsychology, Perceptual Psychology, Speech and Hearing Sciences, or a related UX field
  • 2+ years of experience conducting applied UX research on consumer products using quantitative research methods
  • Strong expertise in experimental design, inferential statistics, and quantitative research methodologies
  • Experience conducting lab-based perceptual or behavioral research in audio-related domains
  • Proficiency with standardized perceptual audio evaluation methodologies such as MUSHRA, paired comparisons, and adaptive staircase procedures
  • Experience using psychophysical and psychoacoustic research methods
  • Experience designing and implementing custom research metrics and evaluation frameworksExperience conducting qualitative research, including interviews and usability studies
  • Experience collaborating with cross-functional engineering and product teams
  • Proficiency with statistical analysis and data visualization using Python, R, MATLAB, or similar tools
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and research design skills
  • Excellent written, verbal, and presentation communication skills
Preferred Qualifications
  • PhD in Human Factors, Cognitive Psychology, Neuropsychology, Perceptual Psychology, Speech and Hearing Sciences, or a related UX field
  • 2+ years of experience conducting audio-related behavioral or attitudinal research involving consumer devices such as smart glasses, AR headsets, headphones, smart speakers, or similar products
  • Experience in hearing science, audiology, hearing correction, speech communication, or audio quality evaluation
  • Experience developing programmatic research workflows and automated evaluation tools
  • Strong proficiency with advanced statistical analysis and data visualization in Python or R
  • Experience synthesizing qualitative research insights to inform product direction
