Job Description:

Seeking an experienced Senior UX Designer to support a high volume of WordPress-based web projects within a senior, collaborative UX and development team. This individual will work across both existing and net-new websites, owning work from wireframing and responsive design in Figma through hands-on WordPress implementation, QA, and launch.

This is a UX/Web Designer with strong WordPress implementation skills, not a traditional WordPress Developer. The ideal candidate is strong enough in UX and Figma to wireframe a net-new website but equally comfortable jumping into an existing site, configuring Gutenberg blocks, making CSS adjustments, troubleshooting responsive or component issues, and carrying work through launch.

Day-to-Day Responsibilities:

  • Support multiple WordPress website projects at different stages of design, development, and launch
  • Create wireframes, page architecture, responsive designs, and prototypes in Figma
  • Translate Figma designs into functional, responsive experiences within WordPress
  • Work hands-on within WordPress Gutenberg/block editor to configure, customize, and implement pages and components
  • Jump into existing designs and templates to roll out new pages, components, and responsive experiences
  • Support net-new websites from creative brief and concept through wireframing, design, implementation, QA, and launch
  • Make front-end styling adjustments using CSS and HTML and work with existing JavaScript when needed
  • Troubleshoot common WordPress and front-end issues involving headers, dropdown menus, dynamic blocks, components, and responsive breakpoints
  • Perform QA across desktop and mobile to ensure websites are responsive, functional, and visually consistent
  • Support ongoing website maintenance and enhancement requests including homepage updates, new components, rebrands, content changes, and marketing initiatives
  • Develop creative solutions when existing WordPress blocks or components do not fully address client requirements
  • Work across multiple client websites simultaneously while balancing changing priorities and deadlines
  • Participate in regular UX and development team stand-ups and collaborate closely with designers, developers, strategists, and other stakeholders
  • Work within established creative briefs, brand guidelines, design systems, and client strategy

Minimum Requirements:

  • 7–8 years of professional web UX, web design, or UX/UI design experience
  • Strong portfolio demonstrating significant website-focused UX and design work
  • Hands-on experience designing and implementing WordPress websites
  • Strong experience with Gutenberg / WordPress block editor, including configuring and customizing blocks and components
  • Advanced proficiency with Figma, including wireframing, responsive web design, prototyping, and component/page design
  • Strong understanding of responsive web design across desktop, tablet, and mobile
  • Working knowledge of CSS and HTML with the ability to make front-end styling adjustments independently
  • Exposure to JavaScript with the ability to understand or edit existing code when troubleshooting components
  • Ability to troubleshoot WordPress, component, and responsive design issues independently before escalating to a developer
  • Experience taking website projects from creative brief/concept through wireframing, design, WordPress implementation, QA, and launch
  • Experience managing and contributing to multiple web projects simultaneously
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills with the ability to work closely with creative and technical teams
  • Self-starter who can independently own deliverables while working effectively within a highly collaborative environment

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Agency experience supporting multiple clients and concurrent website projects
  • B2B website experience, including an understanding of lead generation, engagement, and calls to action
  • Experience working with large, content-heavy websites
  • Experience designing across industries such as B2B, commercial, nonprofit/NGO, federal, or defense
  • Familiarity with WordPress PHP, hooks, and filters
  • Experience configuring or modifying dynamic Gutenberg blocks
  • Experience with accessibility and web UX best practices
  • Experience supporting marketing-focused websites, landing pages, and conversion-oriented digital experiences
  • Portfolio demonstrating custom, responsive WordPress websites and a variety of visual/design styles
