Job Description

The University of Nevada, Reno is recruiting for a temporary Community Services Participant Liaison position within the Sanford Center for Aging (SCA), School of Medicine. This position reports to the Community Services Director. Community Services at SCA includes three interconnected, grant-funded programs:

  • The Volunteer Transportation Program (VTP) provides free transportation for older adults in Washoe County through a network of staff and volunteers.

  • Senior Outreach Services (SOS) engages volunteers to provide one-on-one, in-home companionship for isolated older adults, as well as support for family caregivers. The

  • Washoe County Retired and Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP), funded through AmeriCorps Seniors, recruits and places individuals age 55 and older into meaningful volunteer opportunities throughout the community.

This position includes the following responsibilities:

  • Conducts daily transportation activities, including scheduling and coordinating ride requests with clients, volunteers, paid staff drivers, and Uber

  • Occasionally serves as back-up driver to transport clients

  • Provides assistance to the Community Services Coordinator in managing initial and re-assessments, monitoring compliance, and scheduling assessment visits

  • Assists with scheduling and facilitating volunteer orientations and trainings

  • Assists with enrolling, training and matching clients and volunteers in the Senior Outreach Services program

  • Supports other Community Services activities as needed

Required Qualifications

Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior experience with scheduling, working with older adults, community program delivery, or coaching/training volunteers

  • A degree in social work, psychology, human services or any related field.

Schedule

The position is five days per week; 32 hrs. total.
