Job description

Position Summary

The Transportation Driver provides safe, courteous, reliable transportation for residents to appointments, outings, shopping, community events, and other approved destinations while supporting resident dignity, comfort, and independence.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities
  • Operate community vehicles safely and in accordance with traffic laws, company policy, and assigned transportation schedules.
  • Transport residents to approved medical appointments, errands, activities, outings, and community events.
  • Assist residents safely with entering and exiting vehicles, seat belts, mobility devices, walkers, wheelchairs, and personal belongings within training and role expectations.
  • Complete pretrip and posttrip vehicle inspections and promptly report maintenance, safety, cleanliness, or mechanical concerns.
  • Maintain vehicle cleanliness, fuel levels, required supplies, and transportation logs or documentation.
  • Follow established procedures for resident attendance, departure, arrival, supervision, emergency contacts, and schedule changes.
  • Communicate professionally with residents, families, healthcare offices, activity staff, and community leadership regarding transportation needs.
  • Follow emergency procedures in the event of a vehicle accident, resident medical concern, breakdown, severe weather, or other unexpected event.
  • Ensure wheelchairs, mobility devices, and other equipment are secured properly when applicable and when trained to do so.
  • Never use a handheld mobile device while operating a community vehicle and comply with all company safedriving expectations.
  • Maintain resident, employee, and company confidentiality in accordance with applicable privacy requirements and company policy.
  • Follow community policies, safety practices, infection prevention procedures, and applicable local, state, and federal requirements.
  • Participate in required training, inservices, meetings, and emergency preparedness activities.
  • Provide respectful, residentcentered service and work collaboratively with residents, families, visitors, coworkers, vendors, and healthcare partners.
  • Perform other duties as assigned based on community needs and within the scope of the position.
  • Qualifications
  • Valid driver’s license appropriate for the vehicle operated and acceptable driving record.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and provide patient, respectful service to older adults.
  • Ability to pass company motor vehicle record review and other required screening.
  • Preferred Experience & Skills
  • Previous professional driving, senior transportation, healthcare, senior living, hospitality, or customer service experience preferred.
  • Physical & Work Requirements
  • Ability to sit and drive for extended periods and frequently enter and exit vehicles.
  • Ability to assist with mobility devices and resident boarding consistent with training and physical capability.
  • Ability to lift, push, pull, and secure mobility equipment as required for the vehicle and assignment, with or without reasonable accommodation.
