Position Summary
The Title IX Office, within the Office of Diversity and Equity, contributes to campus-wide diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives in order to integrate Title IX into the larger campus context. The Deputy Title IX Coordinator/Equity Compliance Officer works in collaboration with the Division of Student and Campus Life, Human Resources, Office of Accessibility Services, and other College staff, faculty and students to coordinate the dissemination of information to students and employees about their rights and the courses of action available to them regarding sex discrimination and acts of interpersonal and sexual violence. This role also collaborates with external community members such as local law enforcement, the district attorney, and community non-profit advocacy agencies.
The Deputy Title IX Coordinator/Equity Compliance Officer works directly with the Title IX Coordinator/Sr. Equity Compliance Officer to examine and implement innovative ways to ensure Title IX operations are culturally sensitive and inclusive. The Deputy Title IX Coordinator/Equity Compliance Officer has oversight of intakes and investigations of employee and student complaints pertaining to reports of discrimination, sexual harassment and acts of interpersonal and sexual violence. The Deputy Title IX Coordinator may be the first point of contact for incidents and would be accessible outside of normal business hours.

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree;
  • Demonstrated experience conducting investigations of allegations of sex/gender discrimination and misconduct on a college campus;
  • Demonstrated capacity for managing caseloads with multiple deadlines and maintaining confidential detailed records;
  • Demonstrated skills related to conducting trauma-informed interviews;
  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills including the ability to convey relevant information in clearly written reports;
  • Demonstrated cultural competency and ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse and underrepresented backgrounds;
  • Demonstrated ability to interpret requirements related to NYS and federal non-discrimination laws and regulations
  • Candidates for this position must be eligible to work in the United States. VISA sponsorship is not offered.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's Degree or J.D.;
  • Working knowledge of best practices related to higher education laws and policy standards at both the state and federal levels;
  • Working knowledge of federal regulations related to Title VI, Title VII, Title IX, VAWA, NYS 129-B and/or the Clery Act;
  • Presentation skills in conducting training on topics related to sex/gender discrimination, sexual harassment, interpersonal violence and/or sexual assault;
  • Experience working in or alongside Student Conduct offices and/or with external community partners such as the District Attorney's office and local law enforcement
  • Working knowledge or experience of Maxient case management software
  • Professional certifications or credentialing related to NYS or federal civil rights law (ex. SCI, ATIXA)
