Job Summary

Castalia Systems is seeking a Senior Systems Engineer to provide enterprise-wide systems engineering and integration support to an operational government customer within the Intelligence Community (IC).

The Senior Systems Engineer will support the assessment, planning, coordination, integration, testing, and implementation of complex systems and system modifications. This position will manage moderately sized projects and processes with minimal oversight while providing measurable technical input to new products, processes, standards, and operational plans that support customer integration and mission objectives.

The ideal candidate will be comfortable working in a fast-paced operational environment, collaborating with government and contractor stakeholders, analyzing complex technical issues, and developing practical solutions that enable successful system integration and mission execution.

This position operates within a SCIF environment and offers flexible work hours designed to support work-life balance while meeting operational mission requirements.

Roles and Responsibilities

A qualified candidate will perform the following duties and responsibilities, but are not limited to:

  • Provide systems engineering and systems integration support across an enterprise operational environment.
  • Assess, plan, coordinate, schedule, and implement systems engineering projects from initial concept through system transition.
  • Manage moderately sized systems integration projects with minimal supervision and ensure technical activities remain aligned with customer objectives.
  • Support the installation, integration, checkout, testing, modification, and upgrade of operational systems.
  • Analyze system requirements, technical issues, operational constraints, and integration challenges to identify appropriate solutions.
  • Gather and evaluate detailed technical and operational information to investigate problems and determine root causes and corrective actions.
  • Develop and maintain project plans, schedules, technical documentation, integration plans, test plans, and other program artifacts as required.
  • Provide reliable and actionable technical data to government customers to support informed decisions regarding system modifications, upgrades, integration, and operational readiness.
  • Coordinate activities among government personnel, contractors, system owners, engineers, and other technical stakeholders.
  • Communicate effectively with stakeholders at multiple organizational levels and facilitate resolution of technical and operational issues.
  • Provide technical recommendations and influence policies, procedures, standards, and practices at the operational level.
  • Identify opportunities to improve systems engineering, integration, testing, and operational processes.
  • Contribute technical expertise to the development and implementation of new products, processes, standards, and operational plans.
  • Track project risks, issues, dependencies, milestones and communicate status and recommended mitigation strategies to appropriate stakeholders.
  • Support system transition activities and ensure integration efforts are completed in accordance with customer requirements and established processes.
  • Participate in technical meetings, working groups, integration events, test activities, and customer briefings.
  • Ensure systems engineering and integration activities comply with applicable security, operational, and customer requirements.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Systems Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related technical discipline.
  • 8+ years of relevant systems engineering, systems integration, or technical project experience.
  • Experience supporting complex government, defense, intelligence, or mission-critical systems.
  • Demonstrated experience with systems engineering and integration activities across the system lifecycle.
  • Experience planning, coordinating, and executing technical projects with multiple stakeholders.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to investigate complex technical issues and develop effective solutions.
  • Experience developing technical documentation, project plans, schedules, test plans, integration plans, or similar engineering artifacts.
  • Ability to communicate technical information effectively to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while managing multiple priorities.
  • Experience working directly with government customers and/or contractor teams.
  • Ability to work effectively in a SCIF environment.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience supporting the Intelligence Community, Department of Defense, or other U.S. Government mission environments.
  • Experience with enterprise systems integration, operational system upgrades, or large-scale technology deployments.
  • Experience supporting system installation, integration checkout, verification, validation, and test activities.
  • Knowledge of systems engineering methodologies and lifecycle processes.
  • Experience with requirements management, configuration management, change management, risk management, and technical baseline development.
  • Experience working within Agile, DevSecOps, or other structured development/integration environments.
  • Systems engineering or project management certification such as INCOSE, PMP, or equivalent.
  • Experience coordinating multiple contractor organizations and government stakeholders.
  • Experience developing briefings and technical recommendations for senior government leadership.

Salary at Castalia Systems is determined by various factors, including but not limited to location, position knowledge, skills, competencies, and experience, as well as contract-specific affordability and organizational requirements. The projected compensation range for this position is $160,000.00 to $170,000.00 (annualized USD). The estimate displayed represents the typical salary range for this position and is just one component of Castalia Systems’ total compensation package for employees.
