Job description

Your Role

As a Senior System Engineer, you will report to the team leader of the System Team in the Platform department. You will play a key technical role in the implementation, evolution, and operational stability of Microsoft-based infrastructure platforms, both internally and for our clients.

You will act as a technical reference within the team, contributing to system design decisions, operational best practices, and continuous improvement of our services. In this role, you combine strong handsโ€‘on expertise with the ability to anticipate issues, standardize solutions, and collaborate effectively with engineers, architects, and customers.

In the team you will oversee
  • Implement, maintain, and evolve Microsoft-based environments (Windows Server, Active Directory, WSUS, SQL Server, IIS, etc.)
  • Administer and optimise virtualised environments (VMware ESXi, vCenter; VM lifecycle management)
  • Design and optimise system architectures to ensure performance, scalability, and security
  • Monitor infrastructure health and proactively identify and resolve potential issues
  • Provide 2ndโ€‘level and advanced support, handling complex incidents and rootโ€‘cause analysis
  • Automate operations using tools like PowerShell, Puppet, Rundeck, and Terraform
  • Manage the lifecycle of Microsoft systems, ensuring they remain stable, secure and up to date
  • Share knowledge and contribute to technical standards, documentation, and team best practices

Your expertise covers some or all the following
  • Windows Server and Microsoft ecosystem (AD, GPO, IIS, SQL Server, WSUS, RDS, DFS)
  • Virtualisation (VMware vSphere, proxmox)
  • Backup solutions (Veeam)
  • Networking fundamentals (DNS, DHCP, VPNs, firewalls, proxy, load balancers)
  • Scripting and automation (PowerShell, python)
  • Monitoring tools (CheckMK or similar)
  • Infrastructure as Code / configuration management (Terraform, Puppet)
Additional strengths
  • Exposure to public cloud platforms (AWS, Azure)
  • Experience with Linux administration (Debian, RHEL)
  • Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills
  • Ability to document and share knowledge
  • Customerโ€‘oriented mindset with good communication skills

The position is based in Lausanne or Geneva. Excellent written and spoken French and English are required; proficiency in German is an asset.
