Senior Support Workers also liaise with families and external agencies, promote independence among those they support, and may handle administrative duties related to care delivery.

To thrive as a Senior Support Worker, you need experience in care or support settings, a Level 3 Diploma in Health and Social Care (or equivalent), and a solid understanding of safeguarding and care planning. Familiarity with care management software, incident reporting systems, and medication administration tools is often required. Strong leadership, effective communication, and empathy enable you to support both service users and team members. These skills ensure high-quality care delivery, regulatory compliance, and a positive, supportive environment for both staff and residents.
