Job description

Qualifications

Engineer in Training (EIT) certification or ability to obtain within 6 months

Basic understanding of general concepts of relevant areas of design

Proficient in Microsoft (MS) Office Suite

Basic understanding of Microstation and any other relevant design software

Knowledge of calculations performed by software

Ability to participate and collaborate in project team setting, engage in creative and critical thought, and effectively communicate concepts and ideas to others

Ability to create and interpret sketches, drawings, and various structures

Minimum of Bachelor's degree in engineering from an ABET accredited university with an emphasis in Structural Engineering

Position will primarily work in an office setting; may require some field work

Responsibilities

The Structural EIT will work under close supervision of a Senior Engineer to assist on plans and designs of structural engineering projects such as bridges and other transportation structures

Use knowledge of general concepts of structural engineering elements through investigation and analysis, to support engineering projects such as bridges and tunnels.

Perform basic calculations to analyze and design structural system components using company standard software and proprietary manufacturer software

Assist team in preparing structural designs, drawings, specifications, presentations and reports, and gather information to support design decisions

Assist in basic interpretation and verify compliance with applicable codes and engineering standards and practices

Work with other engineering disciplines and professionals in the coordination of the project under the direction of a senior engineer

Assist the team in providing support services during construction that can include submittal reviews, responses to requests for information and contract document clarifications

Perform field work related to construction related activities as required

Perform other duties as assigned by senior engineering staff
