Overview / Responsibilities

Wood is seeking an Intermediate-Senior Pavement Engineer to join our specialty pavement consultancy based in the GTA, ideally in Burlington, Cambridge or Oakville, ON. We are seeking a motivated self-starter equally comfortable in a collaborative team setting, with considerable independence.

Key Responsibilities

  • Contributes technical specialization within Wood's pavement consultancy group
  • Provides advanced technical knowledge in pavement management and pavement engineering projects for provincial and local governments, and for industrial-commercial clients
  • Contributes to complex projects, and leads tasks or phases of large projects
  • Contributes to business development opportunities through technical proposal development, networking, specialized service offerings and with time, professional reputation
  • Contributes positively to a committed, professional team environment.
  • With time, develops as an expert resource working across the company
Skills / Qualifications
  • BSc or higher in Civil Engineering
  • Minimum 5 years of pavement engineering
  • Asphalt Concrete Pavement (ACP) structural designs
  • Portland Cement Concrete (PCC) structural designs
  • ACP and PCC mix design reviews
  • Pavement evaluation, preservation and rehabilitation
  • Knowledge of roadway or airport pavement research, management, evaluation, design, and /or construction is required
  • Excellent spreadsheet skills for engineering applications are required
  • Must pass drug screen, background check, and must have a satisfactory driving record in accordance with the Company's driving (MVR) policy

Desirable (not required) Qualifications:

  • Strong understanding of statistical principles
  • Falling Weight Deflectometer (FWD) analysis
  • Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR) analysis
  • Puts and roughness data (IRI, RUT) analysis
  • AASHTO Mechanistic Empirical design procedures
  • Experience developing statistical models and applying machine learning approaches
