Position Overview
This position is accountable for supervising the construction of specially assigned highway construction projects within a specified geographical area of the district.
Essential Functions

• Supervises projects to ensure they are constructed according to plans and specifications.
• Completes accurate and timely documentation of all work.
• Trains, motivates, and evaluates subordinate personnel.
• Supervises time considerations on projects.
• Oversees the equipment that is utilized by staff.
• Performs duties in compliance with departmental safety rules. Perform all duties in a manner conducive to the fair and equitable treatment of all employees.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

• Current registration as a Licensed Professional Engineer in Illinois OR current registration as a Licensed Structural Engineer in the state of Illinois.
• Four years of experience in civil engineering.

Preferred Qualifications

• Extensive knowledge of the principles and practices of civil engineering.
• Extensive knowledge of modern methods and techniques as applied to the design, construction and maintenance of public works.
• Ability to develop and maintain cooperative relationships with departmental staff and supervise subordinate personnel.
• Good oral and written communication skills.

Conditions of Employment

• Occasional districtwide travel.
• Successful completion of a background screening.

All employees required to file a Statement of Economic Interest are also required to file the Supplemental Statement of Economic Interest with the Executive Ethics Commission.
