Job description

About the Role

The Commercial Strategy team within Delivery Commercial Operations helps Commercial and DCO Leadership make faster, better decisions. We define commercial strategy, develop and maintain the commercial growth thesis, diagnose performance, and turn insight into clear strategic recommendations. We translate those recommendations into planning inputs that inform how the organization prioritizes growth, investment, capacity, and coverage.

The Senior Strategy & Planning Associate will independently own cross-functional commercial strategy questions from problem framing through recommendation and leadership decision. This person will serve as a thought partner to senior leaders, build a point of view from imperfect information, and influence decisions across growth priorities, market and segment focus, productivity assumptions, investment logic, and performance interventions.

The role is designed for a strategist who can move fluidly between the details of data and the broader business context. Success requires independent judgment, analytical rigor, crisp communication, and the ability to align partners without formal authority.

This member owns strategic recommendations, cross-workstream prioritization, and creates momentum to drive recommendations and decisions forward.

The Senior Strategy & Planning Associate makes things happen, ensuring the priorities from leadership are effectively and efficiently driven across the organization and land the recommendations.

What You'll Do
  • Independently bring structured thinking to broad, ambiguous commercial questions and define the analytical and stakeholder workplan required to reach a decision
  • Develop executive-ready recommendations that state clear points of view with supporting evidence, alternatives considered, tradeoffs, risks, and what decisions are needed
  • Use SQL and other analytical tools to diagnose performance, test hypotheses, and quantify the impact of strategic choices
  • Lead cross-functional work with Commercial, Sales Planning, Finance, Operations, Product, and regional or LOB partners
  • Influence senior stakeholders through clear narratives, constructive challenges, and practical recommendations grounded in business context
  • Design reusable frameworks, assumptions logs, intervention trackers, and decision artifacts that raise the quality and speed of recurring work
  • Use AI tools to accelerate research, automate repetitive analysis, pressure-test recommendations, and build reusable workflows, while validating outputs and remaining accountable for the final work
  • Lead assigned components of monthly and quarterly performance reviews, planning cycles, and post-decision learning reviews
  • You can expect high pace and high ambiguity in the role, usually solving questions that we are facing for the first time or taking a new lens to others, the speed and bar in the role is high
Basic Qualifications
  • 4+ years of experience
  • Bachelor's degree
  • Proficient SQL skills, including the ability to query, join, transform, and validate large or complex datasets
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's degree in business, economics, analytics, engineering, public policy, or a related field
  • Strong business and financial acumen, including comfort with growth drivers, productivity, investment tradeoffs, and frameworks
  • Experience in strategy, operations, management consulting, finance, business planning, or a commercial strategy role in a scaled or high-growth business
  • Experience with marketplace, delivery, mobility, advertising, subscription, retail, or other multi-sided business models
  • Experience building reusable analytical workflows, decision frameworks, or self-service tools for business partners
  • Working knowledge of Python, data visualization, experimentation, or advanced analytical methods
  • Demonstrated ability to define and solve complex strategic problems using quantitative and qualitative evidence
  • Strong written and verbal communication, including experience presenting recommendations to senior stakeholders
  • Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional work, navigate ambiguity, and influence without authority
  • AI Expectations: AI fluency is evaluated through operating judgment rather than tool familiarity. Strong candidates use AI to improve speed and quality, disclose material use, verify outputs, protect confidential information, and explain where human judgment changed or overrode the tool's output. The recommendation and its defensibility remain the candidate's responsibility
