Job Summary

Content Platforms Engineering is hiring a Senior Software Engineer to help build and innovate a world‑class shared service platform to support content delivery for brands such as Disney+, ESPN+, Hulu, ABC, Marvel and Star Wars.

Our team of talented software engineers builds and manages a diverse suite of products and services that advance Disney’s media supply chain powering some of the most watched entertainment content. You will help to define platform capabilities, design and implement product solutions, while balancing complexity, speed of implementation, and expandability.

Responsibilities
  • Participate in the design and implementation of multi‑layered distributed systems delivering reliable software solutions at scale
  • Collaborate & troubleshoot in the analysis and resolution of engineering problems involving distributed services and APIs
  • Oversee service performance, scalability, and event planning requirements
  • Provide guidance and enforcement of development practices and processes; review code and work with team members to ensure product and design specifications are met
  • Research and learn new technologies
Basic Qualifications
  • 5+ years relevant industry experience
  • Proficiency in at least one core programming language (e.g., Java, Kotlin, Python, or JavaScript) for building reliable and maintainable software solutions; experience working with microservices and REST APIs
  • Familiarity with AWS and its core services (S3, Lambda, EC2)
  • Experience with at least one database system (SQL, MongoDB, OpenSearch); experience with messaging technology such as Apache Kafka
  • Experience with software development best practice, including functional or object‑oriented programming, data structures, and algorithms
  • Exposure to full lifecycle of application development, including best practices of unit testing, code reviews, documentation, etc.
  • Motivated self‑starter with the ability to learn and adapt to new technologies
  • Strong problem‑solving skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with Video Streaming and Playback
  • Experience with DRM technologies
Required Education
  • B.S. in Computer Science or related field preferred
Compensation

The hiring range for this position in Seattle, WA is $148,700 to $199,400 per year. The base pay offered will also consider internal equity and may vary by geographic region, job‑related knowledge, skills, and experience. A bonus and/or long‑term incentive units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to the full range of medical, financial, and other benefits.
