Overview of the Senior Specialist, Software Engineering:

The Senior Specialist, Software Engineering leads technical delivery of cost basis management solutions within a fast-paced Fintech environment. Operating as both a hands-on individual contributor and informal team lead, drives architecture decisions, mentors peers and partners with cross-functional teams to build reliable, scalable platform capabilities. They bring deep domain expertise, a cloud-native mindset and a passion for AI-augmented engineering.

Duties and Responsibilities of the Senior Specialist, Software Engineering:

  • Identify and resolve complex operational, regulatory, and organizational challenges by leveraging deep cost basis domain expertise and hands-on engineering skills.
  • Design, develop, and implement methodologies, protocols, and processes that enhance platform reliability and improve client experience.
  • Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines using modern DevOps tooling (Git CI/CD pipeline, Jenkins) to ensure fast, reliable automated builds, testing, and deployments.
  • Operationalize cost basis strategies through clean, maintainable code and well-documented engineering standards shared across the team.
  • Coordinate with engineering peers, product managers, and operations to ensure timely and accurate delivery of cost basis calculation and tax reporting features.
  • Ensure all activities comply with applicable regulatory standards; proactively contribute to technical frameworks that support ongoing compliance.
  • Provide technical mentorship and code review guidance to junior and mid-level engineers; deliver actionable, growth-oriented feedback.
  • Resolve complex cost basis calculation challenges, including corporate action adjustments, transferโ€‘in basis reconciliation, and multiโ€‘lot accounting edge cases.
  • Contribute to long-term technical roadmap planning, capability development, and engineering best practices.
  • Collaborate crossโ€‘functionally with product, operations, and engineering teams to ensure alignment and effective delivery.
  • Integrate AI/ML capabilities (e.g., anomaly detection, intelligent reconciliation, LLM-assisted workflows) to improve platform automation and reduce manual intervention in tax operations.

Skills and Experience of the Senior Specialist, Software Engineering:

  • 10+ years of relevant experience, including at least 3-5 years in cost basis, tax operations within a financial services or Fintech organization.
  • Strong domain knowledge of cost basis methodologies and tax lot accounting.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or the equivalent combination of education and experience is required.
  • Proven analytical and problemโ€‘solving abilities with a track record of resolving complex operational and systemโ€‘level issues.
  • Hands-on experience leading and coordinating cross-functional technical initiatives involving engineering, operations, and compliance.
  • Cloud expertise: proficiency in at least one major cloud platform (AWS, OCI, Azure, or GCP), including infrastructure-as-code, cloud-native services, and cost-efficient architecture patterns.
  • AI/ML integration: experience leveraging AI tools, LLM APIs, or ML pipelines to augment engineering workflows, automate operations, or enhance platform intelligence.
  • CI/CD proficiency: experience designing and maintaining automated pipelines (build, test, deploy) with modern DevOps tooling and GitOps practices.
  • Expert-level proficiency in Oracle databases, including advanced PL/SQL development for complex queries, stored procedures, and performance optimization.
  • Hands-on experience with Unix/Linux shell scripting to automate operational tasks, data processing workflows, and system maintenance.
  • Strong Java development skills, with the ability to design, develop, and troubleshoot distributed backend services and integrations.

Compensation:
