What You'll Do:
  • Lead creative development for a branded retail pop-up environment.

  • Create polished 2D and 3D designs and visualizations for the physical environment.
  • Translate creative direction into thoughtful and executable spatial designs.
  • Develop concepts for retail environments, customer experiences, and physical spaces.
  • Support both early-stage conceptual development and detailed design.

  • Take ownership of creative work from initial concept through design development.
  • Ensure designs are visually compelling while remaining practical and executable.
  • Work efficiently in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.

Qualifications
Requirements:
  • Strong professional experience in experiential, environmental, retail, spatial, or 3D design.
  • Proven experience designing retail environments and physical build-outs.
  • Strong 2D and 3D design and visualization capabilities.
  • Experience taking projects from initial concepts and sketches through detailed design.
  • Ability to translate creative direction into practical, executable spatial solutions.
  • Strong presentation and communication skills.
  • Comfortable presenting creative concepts directly to clients.
  • Ability to confidently receive feedback and incorporate revisions.
  • Strong creative problem-solving and attention to detail.
  • Comfortable taking ownership of projects and working with minimal supervision.
  • Strong collaboration skills when working with clients, project managers, and other creative stakeholders.

Nice to Haves:
  • Experience with experiential architecture or experiential design.
  • Experience designing permanent retail or commercial build-outs.
  • Experience working on pop-up stores, branded environments, or customer experiences.
  • Experience working with major consumer, retail, or lifestyle brands.
  • Experience working with architects, fabricators, contractors, or production teams.
  • Strong 3D rendering and visualization capabilities.
  • Previous client-facing experience presenting design concepts and creative solutions.
  • Based in or near New York City, or able to attend key onsite meetings and presentations.

Additional Information

  • Engagement: Freelance / independent contractor opportunity.
  • Start: ASAP.
  • Duration: Approximately 2.5 months, with potential to extend.
  • Hours: Up to 40 hours per week.
  • This is a highly collaborative and client-facing engagement with significant creative ownership.
  • The designer will work closely with the client and project manager to develop concepts, present designs, incorporate feedback, and move the creative work toward execution.
