Job description

This position iscontingentupon the identification of a candidate whose expertise meets our strategic needs, at which point a dedicated, funded opening will be established. We are proactively seeking a standout professional for whom we will finalize a formal role.

Amentum is seeking a talented and driven Sonar Technician to support contract efforts at Submarine Base New London in Groton, CT. As part of our team, you'll play a crucial role in providing support to the Navy's highest-priority ACAT I programs: the VIRGINIA Class Submarine and COLUMBIA Class Submarine. Join us in shaping the future of submarine technology!

What You'll Do:

  • Assist in implementing Engineering Change Instructions.

  • Train others in the operation and performance of systems.

  • Install, monitor, and service equipment and systems at company and client sites.

  • Ensure compliance with engineering documentation standards, plans, and specifications.

  • Develop technical data for Planned Maintenance Systems, troubleshooting procedures, and more.

  • Provide on-site customer interface during installations, testing, and other tasks.

  • Coordinate work with other engineering technicians.

  • Evaluate components and systems consistent with engineering plans.

  • Support systems engineering activities with your subject matter expertise.


Minimum Qualifications

  • Must have an Active Secret US Government Clearance. Note: US Citizenship is required to maintain an Active Secret US Government Clearance

  • High School Diploma/GED and ten (10) years of practical experience OR degree/formal training and six (6) years' experience. (Degree/Formal Training is defined as: Associate's degree in engineering technology, math, or science; or Formal electronics training from: Technical School, or Class A or B military school in electronics or communications; or four-year electronics apprentice program.).

    Excellent communication and analytical skills; working knowledge of computer systems and integrated software application programs

  • Ability to investigate, troubleshoot, and design solutions to problems in operational hardware and software

  • Ability to travel, as required

Preferred Qualifications

  • Candidates knowledgeable across multiple submarine platforms and SWFTS systems

  • Qualified Advanced SONAR operator

Service Contract Act (SCA) Compensation & Benefits:

This is an hourly, overtime-eligible position that falls under the Service Contract Act (SCA). In accordance with the Health and Welfare provisions of the SCA, and in addition to your base hourly rate, you may be eligible to receive an additional health and welfare payment for each hour you work to ensure compliance with the minimums set forth by the act. The amount you are entitled to receive will vary depending upon the fringe benefits you select now and in the future.

Compensation Details:

US: $37.03 Minimum Hourly

Actual compensation may vary based on factors such as job responsibilities, education, experience, skills, internal equity, market data, applicable collective bargaining agreements, and relevant laws.
