Job description

Description
The Dredge Operator is responsible for safely operating a hydraulic or suction dredge to extract sand at Greentek Resources' West Monroe, Louisiana site. This role involves positioning the dredge for excavation, engaging hydraulic pumps, raising and lowering suction booms, and controlling cutterhead rotation. The operator monitors excavation depth using anchor poles, winches, or depth-scanning equipment, and directs or assists crew members with placing shore anchors and cables, laying pipeline from the dredge to shore, and pumping water from pontoons. This position plays a critical role in material extraction and processing while ensuring compliance with MSHA regulations, company safety standards, and operational procedures.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred
  • Prior experience operating a dredge or similar heavy equipment in a mining, dredging, or industrial environment required
  • Ability to operate dredge controls - positioning the dredge, engaging hydraulic pumps, and controlling suction boom and cutterhead rotation
  • Ability to monitor and verify excavation depth using anchor poles, winches, or depth-scanning/sonar equipment
  • Basic mechanical aptitude for routine maintenance (engine oil changes, clearing machinery pipelines, etc.)
  • Strong hand-eye coordination, depth perception, and steady multi-limb control for precise lever operation
  • MSHA training or willingness to obtain MSHA certification as required
  • Ability to work on or near water and follow water safety protocols
  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions
  • Strong safety awareness and compliance mindset
  • Reliable attendance and punctuality
  • Willingness to work extended hours or weekends as operational needs require
