Job Description:

Saab, Inc. is seeking an experienced and motivated Senior Systems Engineer to join our Systems Engineering team to develop complex electronic surveillance systems for commercial and government customers. This role is critical to successfully developing products and executing projects to achieve Saab's vision - It's a human right to feel safe.

This position is located at our East Syracuse, NY, office OR eligible for full-time remote in New York State for candidates residing more than 50 miles from our East Syracuse, NY location.

Responsibilities include:

  • Lead technical investigation and top-level design for new feature development and change requests from both internal and external stakeholders.

  • Lead development of primary and secondary radar products which provide safety-critical surveillance throughout the world

  • Develop and maintain specifications and technical documentation to support customer deliverables and internal systems engineering processes.

  • Balance competing interests from multiple stakeholder groups

  • Coordinate with product development management to ensure technical, cost, and schedule objectives are achieved while maintaining acceptable levels of risk.

  • Develop and propose new technologies and capabilities to enhance product performance

  • Support technical and cost proposal preparation for future programs.

Compensation:

  • $115,700 - $150,500

    The compensation range provided is a general guideline. When extending an offer, Saab, Inc. considers factors including (but not limited to) the role and associated responsibilities, location, and market and business considerations, as well as the candidate's work experience, key skills, and education/training.

    Skills and Experience:

    Required:

    • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Physics, Mathematics, or equivalent

    • 7+ years of relevant experience in safety-critical industries (e.g., aerospace, defense/military, medical, nuclear, etc.)

    • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to form productive relationships within a team

    • Demonstrated proficiency with electromechanical and/or embedded software systems

    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook).

    • Experience with requirements management, system design, and system integration

    • Excellent written and oral communication and collaboration skills

    • Domestic and international travel may be required, typically less than 2 weeks per year.

    Desired:

    • Advanced degree in Engineering, Physics, Mathematics, or related discipline

    • Experience with RF systems, sensor data processing, position estimation, and/or tracking

    • Experience with Eurocontrol, FAA, or other air traffic procedures, operations, and systems

    • Experience with Linux in embedded and/or server systems
