Job Summary
The Senior Software Engineer designs, develops, and maintains software for customer-facing Android applications, multi-platform solutions, and background services. This role integrates software and hardware systems, establishes requirements for complex projects, and collaborates with cross-functional teams and external customers while working independently to solve unique problems.
Key Responsibilities
  1. Develop applications using Android (Kotlin/Java), React Native, and web technologies.
  2. Integrate backends with mobile and web frontends for efficient data synchronization.
  3. Implement AI/vision features including OCR, barcode decoding, and camera API optimization.
  4. Refactor codebases into modular, maintainable architectures with clean SDK abstraction layers.
  5. Build test harnesses and benchmarking tools to validate recognition accuracy and performance.
  6. Implement features such as template management, auto-detection of text/barcode elements, and conflict detection.
  7. Profile performance and prototype solutions for challenging data extraction problems.
  8. Document and present technical structures, reports, and application notes for internal and external use.

Required Qualifications
  1. Bachelor's degree in an appropriate engineering discipline.
  2. 6+ years of professional software engineering experience.
  3. Strong Android development skills (Kotlin/Java), including background services and modern tooling.
  4. Proven experience with multi-platform frameworks (React Native) and web application development.
  5. Solid backend integration experience for end-to-end customer applications.
  6. Working knowledge of computer vision, OCR, barcode symbologies, and camera APIs.
  7. Strong fundamentals in Git, code review, unit/integration testing, and CI/CD.
  8. Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work independently on loosely defined problems.
  9. Strong communication skills with peers, customers, vendors, and managers.

Preferred Qualifications
  1. Experience with AI/ML SDKs, on-device ML inference (TensorFlow Lite, Qualcomm AI stack).
  2. Familiarity with modern AI tools for engineering workflows.
  3. Background in enterprise mobility, data capture, warehouse/logistics, or scanning solutions.
  4. Experience with OpenCV or similar vision libraries.
  5. Experience building developer-facing samples, blueprints, or reference applications.
  6. Familiarity with structured data formats (JSON) and device provisioning via MDM.

Certifications
  1. None required; relevant certifications in mobile development, AI/ML, or cloud systems are a plus.
