Position Summary:

As a Senior Software Engineer on the Application Development Team within Information Technology, you will play a key role in designing, building, and operating modern,ย cloudnativeย applications that support a broad portfolio of systems used by both NAR staff and the membership. This is aย handsonย seniorย individualcontributorย roleย withย ownership ofย architecture and implementation decisionsย for assigned solutions, within established enterprise standards,ย withย mentoringย opportunitiesย butย withoutย people-managementย responsibilities.ย ย 

You will work acrossย frontendย andย backendย systems, deploying scalable solutions on Microsoft Azure and partnering closely with product, data, security, and compliance teams. Success in this role means delivering reliable, secure, andย wellarchitectedย systems across multiple applications, modernizing existing platforms, and taking ownership of the systems you build and support.ย 

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Design, build, deploy, andย operateย cloudnativeย applications on Microsoft Azure, following modern architectural and security best practices.ย 

  • Develop and enhanceย fullstackย web applications across a variety of internal andย memberfacingย systems using technologies such asย Next.js, Nuxt.js, React.js, Angular, .NET, Java, and Node.js.ย 

  • Build andย maintainย backend services and RESTful APIs usingย C#/.NET and Java, supporting integrations with internal platforms andย thirdpartyย vendors.ย 

  • Design,ย optimize, andย maintainย relational andย nonrelationalย databases, with strongย handsonย experience inย Azure SQLย and other data stores.ย 

  • Own applicationsย endtoend, including production support, monitoring, troubleshooting, performance optimization, and cost efficiency in Azure.ย 

  • Implement and maintain CI/CD pipelines usingย Azure DevOps, ensuringย highqualityย releases through automated testing and disciplined code review practices.ย 

  • Collaborate with security and compliance partners to ensure applications meet organizational policies and regulatory requirements.ย 

  • Apply AI-assisted tools across software development, testing, documentation, and engineering workflows to enhance team productivity, quality, and delivery efficiency, while ensuring solutionsย remainย maintainable, secure, and well governed.ย 

  • Provide technical leadership in Agile/Scrum ceremonies, including technical planning, estimation, and delivery commitments.ย 

  • Create andย maintainย clear technical documentation for applications, APIs, and system integrations.

  • Stay current with emerging technologies, cloud services, and industry trends, recommending improvements asย appropriate.ย

Required Qualifications:ย 

  • Bachelor's orย Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent practical experience).ย 

  • 5+ years of professional experienceย delivering and supportingย productiongradeย software solutions.ย 

  • Strongย handsonย experience withย fullstackย development, including:ย 
    ย  ย  - Frontend:ย Next.js / Nuxt.js, React.js, Angularย 
    ย  ย  - Backend:ย C#/.NET, Java, Node.jsย 

  • Musthaveย database experience, including designing, querying, andย optimizingย Azure SQL, with working knowledge of NoSQL databases.ย 

  • Proven experience building andย maintainingย RESTful APIsย and integrating distributed systems.ย 

  • Solid experience deploying and operating applications onย Microsoft Azure.ย 

  • Practical experience withย Azure DevOpsย for source control, CI/CD pipelines, and work item tracking.ย 

  • Exposure toย and practical use ofย AI coding toolsย (such as copilots or code assistants) in a professional development environment.ย 

  • Strong understanding of software architecture, scalability, security best practices, and the full software development lifecycle.ย 

  • Ability to work independently, make sound technical decisions, and take ownership of complex technical implementations.ย 

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to explain technical concepts toย nontechnicalย stakeholders.ย 


Preferredย Qualifications:

  • Experience supporting or integrating withย Microsoft Power Platformย solutions, includingย Power Apps and Power Automate.ย 

  • Experience integrating authentication and authorization solutions such asย Auth0, including familiarity withย OAuth/OIDCbasedย SSOย patterns.ย 

  • Familiarity withย Azurebasedย reporting or analytics integrations (for example, Power BI).ย 

  • Experience modernizing legacy applications or contributing toย largescaleย platform migrations.ย

Compensation: $145,000-$165,000ย 

NAR provides comprehensive benefits including health/dental/vision insurance.
NAR is on a hybrid schedule and in the office 3 days a week.
