Sr Software Quality Test Automation Engineer
6+ Months
Folsom, CA (Hybrid)
PRIMARY PURPOSE:
Under the general direction of the Manager, designs, develops, and maintains automated test frameworks to validate software functionality, performance, and reliability. They collaborate with developers and cross-functional teams to identify test scenarios, integrate automated tests into CI/CD pipelines, and ensure high-quality releases. Their work improves test coverage, reduces manual effort, and enables faster, more reliable delivery of software products. Leads technical improvements for Enterprise Test Methodology, procedures, guidelines, and tools to ensure continued operational excellence. Provides technical or process training for other staff as required.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
·         Test Automation Design & Development - Design, develop, and maintain scalable automated test frameworks and scripts to validate functional, integration, and security regression scenarios across applications.
·         Test Execution, Validation & Defect Management - Execute automated test suites, analyze results, log and track defects, and collaborate with functional & QA teams to ensure timely resolution and quality outcomes.
·         CI/CD Integration & Quality Engineering Practices - Integrate automated tests into CI/CD pipelines, ensuring continuous testing, faster feedback cycles, and support for high-frequency releases.
·         Enterprise Test Methodology & Process Improvement - Lead and contribute to enhancements in enterprise test methodologies, standards, tools, and best practices to drive operational excellence.
·         Establishes and maintains product baseline tests and incremental test labs/cases and evidence for software security, performance and integration.
·         Training & Knowledge Sharing - Provide technical guidance and training to team members on automation tools, frameworks, and QA processes.
MINIMUM JOB QUALIFICATIONS:
Education:
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or a related technical field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Technical Skills
·         Proficiency in one or more programming/scripting languages (e.g., Java, Python, C#, JavaScript, Groovy).
·         Hands-on experience designing, developing, and maintaining automated test frameworks.
·         Experience with UI, API, and integration test automation using industry-standard tools (e.g., Selenium, Playwright, Katalon Studio, Cypress, TestNG, JUnit, REST, SOAP, JSON, Kafka tools).
·         Strong knowledge of software QA methodologies, test lifecycle, and defect tracking processes.
·         Well-versed with tools such as HP ALM, Jira, Xray and Confluence.
·         Experience working in Agile development environments and integrating automated tests into CI/CD pipelines (e.g. Jenkins, GitHub).
Core Competencies
·         Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills with a focus on improving quality metrics.
·         Effective communication and collaboration skills in cross-functional team environments.
·         Ability to work independently and contribute to team deliverables.
Certifications:
·         Testing certifications from reputable organizations such as ISTQB or other relevant QA/Software Testing certifications desirable.

·         7–10+ years of experience in QA engineering, with demonstrated leadership in automation strategy, framework design, and process improvement.
·         Experience mentoring junior engineers and leading test automation initiatives.
·         Experience with performance, load, or security testing tools and practices.
·         Strong experience with test data management, environment management, and service virtualization.
·         Familiarity with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, Google Cloud Platform) and microservices architectures.
·         Experience with Behavior-Driven Development (BDD) frameworks (e.g., Cucumber, SpecFlow).
·         Experience in integrating automated tests within test management tools (e.g. HP ALM, JIRA) and cloud testing services (SauceLabs, LambdaTest, etc.).
·         Own the shift-left strategy end-to-end:
·         Integrate, support, and monitor a push button solution in CI/CD
·         Improve and expand the automation framework as more AUTs are integrated
·         Continue to research and integrate libraries/tools into the automation framework to increase quality and reduce in-house code
·         Continue to monitor/enhance execution time through code performance, multi-threading, cloud execution, etc.).
