About the Role:

Remitly's Trust Platform powers secure, reliable, and compliant money movement at a global scale. The Trust Orchestration team builds core capabilities that protect our customers, reduce fraud and abuse, and enable fast, seamless verification experiences across Remitly products. You will become a product expert and have the opportunity to influence key decisions that shape the charters you work in. You will build features that hundreds of thousands of customers use every day. Your day-to-day work will have a direct impact on our customers and business. You will report to the Senior Engineering Manager in Vancouver.

You will

  • Design and build backend services that power verification and risk controls used across Remitly.
  • Ship reliable, observable, and scalable systems that meet strict availability and latency SLOs for customer-facing flows.
  • Partner with Product, Risk, and Compliance to translate regulatory and operational requirements into robust technical solutions.
  • Own services end-to-end: architecture, implementation, testing, on-call, and continuous improvement.
  • Improve platform primitives for feature gating, configuration, experimentation, and data quality.
  • Contribute to engineering excellence through design reviews, documentation, and operational runbooks.
  • Lead technical discussions, provide mentorship to junior engineers, and advocate for best practices in coding, testing, and system design.
  • Contribute to the evolution of the Trust Platform.

You Have:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field; or equivalent work experience.
  • 8+ years of backend services development and domain ownership
  • Expertise in one of the following programming languages: Kotlin, Java, Go, C#, Python, Ruby, JavaScript
  • Comfortable dealing with a large amount of ambiguity.
  • Experience working directly with product and cross-team stakeholders to achieve outcomes
  • Experience owning and operating systems end-to-end.
  • Experience building, shipping, and maintaining software.
  • Passion for cross-team collaboration.

Compensation Details. The starting base salary range for this position is $152,000 - $190,000. In Canada, Remitly employees are shareholders in our Company and equity is part of our total compensation plan.
