About The Role:
Innovative Defense Technologies (IDT), a leading defense technology company, is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to be part of our Missile Defense Analysis and Modeling (MDAM) team based in Mount Laurel, NJ.
Leveraging advanced software automation, model-based systems engineering (MBSE), and AI-driven architectures, IDT accelerates capability development, enhances operational readiness, and reduces lifecycle costs for the Department of Defense. The company is dedicated to transforming defense systems through innovation, efficiency, and mission-critical results.
Clearance & Location Requirements:
  • All applicants must be able to obtain/maintain an active Secret U.S. Security Clearance.
  • This is a 100% on-site position at our Mount Laurel, NJ office.

Key Responsibilities
What You Will Do:
  • Provide technical direction and input in design reviews, code reviews, and system-level engineering discussions.
  • Design, develop, test, and maintain software applications and services.
  • Lead implementation of complex features, defect resolution, and system enhancements.
  • Promote code quality, security, and engineering best practices within the team.
  • Lead troubleshooting, debugging, and root-cause analysis for complex technical issues.
  • Integrate software components, APIs, and third-party systems into existing environments.
  • Support deployment, modernization, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams and stakeholders to refine requirements and deliver solutions.
  • Create and review technical documentation, system designs, and operational procedures.
  • Contribute across the full software development lifecycle, from requirements through sustainment.

Skills, Knowledge & Expertise
Who You Are (Required):
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mathematics, Data Science, Cybersecurity, or a related technical discipline (or equivalent professional experience).
  • 7+ years of professional software development experience.
  • Previous experience in a technical leadership role on a software project.
  • Strong experience developing software in one or more languages such as C++, Java, Python, or JavaScript.
  • Experience with Git or similar version control systems.
  • Experience working in Linux-based environments.
  • Experience supporting integration, test execution, and release activities across teams.
  • Strong experience with SQL and relational database technologies (e.g., PostgreSQL).
  • Experience with container technologies such as Docker, Podman, or OCI-compliant containers.
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment.
  • Ability to travel up to 10% as required.
