Overview
Performs environmental permitting with a focus on the Clean Water Act. Other responsibilities include regulatory reporting, environmental assessments and developing pollution control programs for Company facilities and operations. Performs assignments that are broad in nature and moderately difficult under minimum supervision.

Responsibilities
• Supports the environmental permitting and plans necessary to support the construction and operations of sites and facilities.
• Reviews and analyzes existing legislation/regulations and provides input to management.
• Support environmental spill response and clean-up throughout the service territory and on-call emergency storm restoration as needed. This may be a special assignment that comes into play during storms and other emergencies when the company needs to restore power or respond to other issues affecting customer service. This role may necessitate the need to work after-hours, outside of your normal schedule.
• Core program competencies include experience with the compliance provisions of some or all of the following: the Clean Water Act (CWA); Endangered Species Act (ESA); National Historic Preservation Act (NHPA); Oil Pollution Act (OPA); Toxic Substances Control Act (TSCA); Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA); National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA); Migratory Bird Treaty Act (MBTA); their amendments and all related rules and regulations including state and local implementing regulations as well as relevant state and local environmental regulations. Experience working with federal, state and local regulatory agencies on notification and approval processes. Participates in inspections and audits of projects and programs.
• Evaluate construction schedules, determine required environmental needs, and work with regulatory agencies and contractors to obtain permits and resolve permitting and plan issues necessary to support the construction and operation of sites and facilities.
• Assists with assessment reports and data compiled by contractors, consultants, governmental agencies, and others to determine environmental impact on Company.
• Provides technical training as necessary in support of environmental regulations and Company procedures.
• Assists other environmental staff with large and/or complex projects, as required.
• Assist with interface between various regulatory agencies' staff and the Company and provide information for expert testimony, as needed, for hearings involving environmental legislation and regulatory actions.
• Monitor and audit project crews and construction contractors to ensure compliance with environmental permitting and plans, proper characterization and disposal of waste material, and inspections of installed Best Management Practices (BMPs) as needed.

Qualifications
Required Education
Bachelor's Degree in environmental science, applied science, or related technical discipline.
Required Experience
2+ years of environmental related experience

• Must be comfortable with communicating with all stakeholder groups.
• Ability to use formal training in practical application to work assignments.
• Must be able to process data and site conditions to assess environmental performance, opportunities for improvement, etc.
• Fluency in Microsoft Office products such as SharePoint, Teams, word processing, spreadsheets, databases, project planning, etc.
