Job description

Description
The Sr. AI Engineer will report directly to the Sr. Director of Data Analytics & AI Ecosystems and serve as a primary hands-on builder within the company's AI Ecosystem, anchored by the AIMES (AI Mini-Ecosystem) platform. This role is responsible for developing and maintaining Copilot Studio agents, Power Automate orchestration flows, Python-based tooling and dashboards, and supporting the training, tuning, and evaluation of AI models used across the organization.
This role combines hands-on AI/automation engineering with data analytics capability. In the near term, the emphasis is on building out the AI Ecosystem: agents, automation, and integrations. As that build-out matures, the role is expected to shift toward analyzing the data and outcomes produced by those systems, generating insights, and supporting data-driven decision-making alongside the Sr. Director. The Sr. AI Engineer should be equally comfortable building an agent and analyzing the data it produces, with strong Python fundamentals, disciplined GitHub/CI-CD practices, and the ability to translate ecosystem roadmap priorities into working, production-ready solutions on the existing Microsoft 365 E5 platform.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
  • Design, build, and maintain Copilot Studio agents, including conversational flows, tool/function calling, and retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) integration against the SharePoint Document Repository.
  • Develop, test, and support Power Automate flows for orchestration, approval routing, reminders/escalation, and reconciliation, following documented build and change-control discipline.
  • Write and maintain Python code for automation scripting, API integrations, data pipelines, and dashboard generation (e.g., Chart.js-based visualizations).
  • Support AI model training, fine-tuning, and prompt engineering efforts, including embeddings generation, vector search configuration, and RAG pipeline construction and upkeep.
  • Manage source control in GitHub, following branching, pull-request review, and versioning discipline consistent with team standards.
  • Design and implement CI/CD pipelines for AI and automation deliverables, ensuring reliable, repeatable, and auditable deployment.
  • Integrate solutions with the broader Microsoft 365 / Power Platform environment, including SharePoint, Dataverse, and related services.
  • Maintain documentation, testing evidence, and change logs aligned with the organization's SOX and CMMC compliance requirements, including human sign-off on automated approvals and per-action audit logging.
  • Partner with the Sr. Director of Data Analytics & AI Ecosystems to execute the AIMES roadmap and support enterprise AI Ecosystem initiatives (Automation Hub, Intelligence Hub, and related components).
  • Troubleshoot production automation and agent issues, verifying ground truth against live system behavior rather than assumed outcomes.
  • Contribute to cross-training efforts, sharing AI/automation engineering knowledge with other members of the Data Analytics & AI Ecosystems team.
  • Analyze data generated by AI agents, automation flows, and integrated systems to identify trends, performance issues, and opportunities for improvement.
  • Build and maintain reporting and dashboards that translate AI Ecosystem activity and outcomes into actionable insight for the Sr. Director and business stakeholders.
  • Partner with the Sr. Director on data analytics work as the AI Ecosystem build-out matures, with the expectation that analytics responsibility grows over time as agent and automation development stabilizes.

Job Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent hands-on experience.
  • 5+ years of software engineering experience, with recent, demonstrable focus on AI/LLM-enabled tooling and automation.
  • Hands-on experience with Microsoft Copilot Studio or a comparable conversational AI/agent development platform.
  • Strong working experience with Power Automate and the broader Power Platform.
  • Proficiency in Python required; familiarity with TypeScript/JavaScript is a plus.
  • Experience working with AI/LLM APIs (e.g., OpenAI, Anthropic), including structured prompting, function calling/tool use, embeddings, RAG, and vector search.
  • Practical GitHub experience and familiarity with building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines.
  • Experience building dashboards or data visualizations (e.g., Chart.js, Power BI, or similar tooling).
  • Familiarity with the Microsoft 365 ecosystem, including SharePoint and Dataverse.
  • Experience operating in a regulated or compliance-driven environment (SOX, CMMC, HIPAA, or similar) is a plus.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work directly and iteratively with technical leadership.
  • Working knowledge of data analytics practices, including the ability to interpret data, identify trends, and translate findings into clear, actionable recommendations.
  • Comfort moving between hands-on engineering work and data/analytics work as priorities shift over time.

Key Competencies
  • AI/Automation Engineering Depth - Hands-on ability to design and build production-grade AI agents and automation.
  • Agent & Workflow Architecture - Understanding of how to structure agents, flows, and RAG pipelines for reliability and maintainability.
  • Python Engineering - Strong scripting and application development skills.
  • DevOps/CI-CD Discipline - Comfort with source control, structured deployment, and repeatable delivery practices.
  • Compliance Awareness - Ability to build within SOX/CMMC constraints, including audit logging and human sign-off requirements.
  • Collaborative Execution - Ability to take direction from the Sr. Director and execute against a shared roadmap with minimal rework.
  • Data Analytics Fluency - Ability to analyze data and translate it into insight, growing in emphasis as the AI Ecosystem build-out matures.
