Job description

Reserv is an InsurTech company creating and incubating cuttingโ€‘edge AI and automation technology to bring efficiency and simplicity to claims. Weโ€™re stripping away the "mundane" to set a new global standard for the insurance industry!

Founded by industry veterans, with deep experience in SaaS and digital claims, Reserv is ventureโ€‘backed by Bain Capital and Altai Ventures and began operations in May 2022. Weโ€™re focused on automating highly manual tasks to tackle longโ€‘standing problems in claims while setting the new standard for TPAs, insurance technology providers and adjusters alike.

About the role

As a Staff Software Engineer at Reserv, youโ€™ll be at the heart of our growth journey, shaping the future of our technology and platform. You are a passionate engineer with proven experience leading and executing on large projects. Reserv will be depending on you and your team to build a beautiful, powerful product from a userโ€‘story driven frontโ€‘end all the way and a scalable backโ€‘end to robust APIs that make it easy to connect us with other nextโ€‘generation solutions. For this role, we are seeking engineers with strong fullโ€‘stack software engineering skills with a curiosity for systems, a proclivity for endโ€‘toโ€‘end ownership of features, and an ability to both run independently and collaborate well with fellow engineers and businessโ€‘side teammates. If you are ready to mold the vision for Reservโ€™s technology, join us on the journey.

What we need
  • Excel at defining the vision around delivering businessโ€‘impacting goals
  • Rapidly deliver against large, crossโ€‘functional, highโ€‘impact projects, proactively identifying and mitigating risk
  • Clear communication with executiveโ€‘level stakeholders both internally and externally
  • Work with our tech stack: Ruby on Rails, Postgres, Typescript, React, GraphQL, NextJS, AWS
  • Help distill the core interactions a customer of Reserv will need to be successful in using our product, from the homepage, to the developer dashboard, to documentation centers and SDKs
  • Ship code that improves the developer experience, including the homepage, developer dashboard, Connect, SDKs, and the documentation center
  • Build frontend and backend components that improve the Reserv integration experience
  • Commit on your first day, and deploy code continuously
  • Collaborate closely with product ops, design, and sales teams as we scale and mentor junior engineers
  • Communicate ideas and specifications through detailed, precise writing
  • Influence the culture, values, and processes of a growing engineering team
  • Support the engineering function globally
  • Enjoy and have fun being creative and thinking outside of the box โ€“ draw on analogous situations youโ€™ve worked on before, but we are not traversing wellโ€‘traveled roads. "Where weโ€™re going, we donโ€™t need roads!"
Requirements
  • 10 years of experience as an individual contributor with experience using modern programming languages and frontโ€‘end frameworks
  • Strong demonstrated ability to ship highโ€‘quality products, both at work and outside of work, including side projects or openโ€‘source contributions
  • A passion for building intuitive technology and a thirst for learning
  • Able to think through customer requirements and prioritize what is a mustโ€‘have, niceโ€‘toโ€‘have, or irrelevant
  • Strong technical skillset with the willingness and ability to take over tasks outside your core competency
  • Generous healthโ€‘insurance package with nationwide coverage, vision, & dental
  • 401(k) retirement plan with employer matching
  • Competitive PTO policy โ€“ we want our employees fresh, healthy, happy and energized
  • Generous family leave policy
  • Work from almost anywhere to facilitate your workโ€‘life balance
  • Cool, functional swag
  • Apple laptop, large second monitor, and other qualityโ€‘ofโ€‘life equipment you may want

At Reserv, we value diversity in backgrounds, perspectives, and life experiences and believe that diversity in viewpoints and critical thinking drives innovation, firstโ€‘principles thinking, and success. We welcome applicants from all backgrounds and encourage those from all walks of life to apply. If you believe you are a good fit for this role, we would love to hear from you!
