Position Details:

  • Shift: PRN Days
  • Hours: 12-hour shifts (7am-7pm)

Job Summary:

An ICU/CCU nurse provides critical care to patients with severe conditions, monitoring their vital signs closely, administering medications, performing advanced life support interventions like CPR and defibrillation, and collaborating closely with physicians to develop and implement individualized treatment plans; essentially focusing on the most critical cardiac patients within an intensive care unit setting.

  • Continuously monitoring vital signs like heart rhythm (ECG), blood pressure, and oxygen saturation, identifying and responding quickly to changes in patient condition.
  • Precisely administering complex cardiac medications, including emergency medications like antiarrhythmics and vasopressors, according to physician orders.
  • Performing advanced cardiac life support procedures like CPR, defibrillation, and pacemaker insertion in emergency situations.
  • Interpreting and managing invasive hemodynamic monitoring data like central venous pressure (CVP) and pulmonary artery pressure.
  • Educating patients and their families about their heart condition, treatment plan, and self-care measures.
  • Providing emotional support to patients and families facing critical cardiac situations.

Qualifications:

  • Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in the State of Texas.
  • BLS and ACLS certifications.
  • Minimum 1 year of experience required.
  • Ability to rapidly assess patient situations, interpret complex data, and make timely clinical decisions.
  • Expertise in cardiac monitoring, advanced life support techniques, and medication administration.
  • Effective communication with physicians, other healthcare team members, and patients/families.
