Location: Remote (with potential for travel)

Happy Returns is seeking an experienced, analytical, and strategic Senior Manager of Fraud & Loss to build, lead, and scale our end-to-end loss prevention and fraud mitigation strategy across our Return Bar network and retail partnership ecosystem.


Reporting into Operations Leadership, you will take ownership of defining enterprise loss management programs, designing proactive detection frameworks, and leading cross-functional mitigation initiatives. In this role, you will translate complex operational data and audit findings into scalable product features, operational protocols, and measurable financial protection for the business and our retailers.


Responsibilities

  • Team Leadership & Performance: Build, direct, and mentor a Fraud & Loss team (including a Fraud & Loss Specialist), setting OKRs, SOPs, and operational performance metrics.
  • Program Architecture: Establish enterprise-level loss & fraud management programs including frameworks for retail partners with contractual commitments, and reporting processes to surface & react to emerging risks
  • Cross-Functional & Product Strategy: Partner closely with Product, Engineering, and Operations teams to translate data from various sources into automated product fixes and risk controls.
  • Initiative Management & Escalations: Drive the end-to-end execution of company-wide loss and fraud prevention initiatives, serving as the ultimate escalation point and policy owner for high-value or complex risk events.
  • Executive & Partner Reporting: Own high-level risk communication, presenting loss trends, system vulnerabilities, and financial impact analyses to leadership and enterprise retail partners.


Requirements


  • Experience: 5+ years of progressive experience in fraud, loss prevention, and/or operational risk, ideally within e-commerce, retail, logistics, or reverse logistics platforms.
  • Management Track Record: 2+ years of direct people management experience building, scaling, and mentoring high-performing risk or operations teams.
  • Data Fluency: Exceptional analytical skills with a proven ability to synthesize raw data, complex transaction logs, and external partner datasets into actionable strategies (advanced SQL/Excel/BI tool experience preferred).
  • Cross-Functional Influence: Demonstrated success partnering with Product and Engineering teams to translate risk observations into product requirements.
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain, Data Analytics or a related field
