Job description

Situated within the Global Risk & Security Division, the Counterparty Risk Management Team conducts credit reviews, risk assessments, and ongoing monitoring for Vanguard's global counterparties. The Credit Risk Analyst role will primarily focus on expanding coverage of securities lending and banking relationships for the Personal Wealth(PW)Division, supporting key enterprise priorities.

This role is designed for a strong credit analyst who can pair rigorous financial statement analysis with clear, executive-ready stakeholder communication. The role covers counterparties across Vanguard's Personal Wealth Division, along with coverage of trading counterpartiesand brokersfor the Investment Management Group(IMG).For approvedtradingcounterparties, the team performsanalysis and monitoring to ensure risk exposure is appropriate based on each counterparty's creditworthiness, collaborates with stakeholders to manage risk exposures, andensuresVanguard'scompliance with SEC Derivatives and Liquidity Rules. This is a unique opportunity to innovateandmeet the needs of new stakeholders, while contributing to a mature risk framework.

Core Responsibilities

  • Perform credit due diligence of financial statements, regulatory filings, credit disclosures, news sources, and market indicators to assess counterparty strength and downside risk.

  • Analyze key credit metrics, including leverage, liquidity, coverage, profitability, capitalization, and cash flow quality.

  • Continuously monitor rating agency actions, earnings updates, market events, breaking news, and spread movements to detect early signs of deterioration; evaluate risk implications of mergers, acquisitions, and other corporate actions.

  • Stay current on market structure, credit cycles, and relevant investment themes to inform risk views; use data analysis to identify trends, outliers, and emerging risk signals.Build

  • Conduct scenario and stress analysis to evaluate counterparty resilience and downside risk under adverse market, credit, and liquidity conditions.

  • Develop a deep understanding ofPWandIMGbusinesses. Keeps abreast of current issues in business operations and incorporates changing business needs into risk analysis.

  • Build consulting-style presentations and lead stakeholder readouts that translate complex credit findings into clear business implications and actionable recommendations.

  • Manage relationships with stakeholderswithPW,IMG, legal, compliance, and finance organizations. Acts as a liaison and subject matter expert on risk topics,andinfluence decisions through evidence-based communication of risk insights.

  • Assesses risksassociated with new products and supports new implementations.

  • Producetimely updatesforleadership, assessingimpact of anycredithealthchanges.

  • Partner with technology teams toenhancereporting, data quality, workflows, andcontrols.

  • Participate in special projects and perform other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum of five years related work experience, including three years of relatedcreditanalysis,creditresearch, financial statement analysis, or counterparty riskexperience.

  • Undergraduate degree or equivalent combination of training and experience. Graduate degree preferred.

  • Progress towards professional certification (CFA, FRM, CPA) or continued development of investment andcreditrisk acumen preferred.

  • Strong command of corporate financial statement analysis and credit ratio interpretation.

  • Advanced Microsoft Office skills, proficiency in Bloomberg, and analytical or programming tools such as Python.Exposureand genuine interest inleveragingAI tools.
