Job description

We are looking for a talented Controls Engineer - Senior to join our team specializing in Manufacturing in Columbus, IN.

In this role, you will make an impact in the following ways:

  • Design and implement robust control systems that reliably meet performance, safety, and regulatory specifications.
  • Develop and execute bench tests to validate system functionality, reduce risk, and ensure readiness for field deployment.
  • Troubleshoot, debug, and modify software and equipment to resolve complex sensor, actuator, and system-level issues efficiently.
  • Support change requests by analyzing root causes and implementing sustainable technical solutions with minimal operational impact.
  • Prepare accurate cost estimates, equipment lists, and appropriation requests to support informed financial and capital planning decisions.
  • Investigate project requirements and constraints, developing solution plans that balance technical performance with economic, personnel, and environmental considerations.
  • Install, configure, and provide technical support for PLC-based hardware and software, ensuring seamless integration into operations.
  • Coach and mentor junior Controls Engineers, strengthening team capability, technical rigor, and long-term engineering excellence.

Additional Information:

  • Lead the procurement, build & installation of controls related projects
  • Daily production support for machine controls and electrical related issues. Collaborate with Maintenance to troubleshoot manufacturing equipment to ensure machine availability.
  • Lead process improvement projects.
  • Technical support for part tracking / traceability requirements. Collaborate with I.T. to implement and maintain process.
  • Engineering support for advanced technology (i.e. Cobots, AMR, SIM models, etc.)
  • Lead engineer maintaining Production Information Management System
  • Develop and maintain Power Bi system to monitor machine performance.

  • Advanced electrical troubleshooting skills to quickly diagnose, repair, and restore electrical control systems to proper operating conditions.
  • Factory automation and machine programming capability to design, implement, and enhance automated solutions that improve machine utilization and manufacturing efficiency.
  • Solid manufacturing and sensor technology knowledge to apply the right measurement solutions, drive quality decisions, and implement process improvements that support continuous improvement.


Education, Licenses, Certifications:

  • College, university, or degree in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math) or related field, or equivalent experience required.
  • This position may require licensing for compliance with export controls or sanctions regulations.

Experience:
