Your ‘day to day’:
  • Lead complex analyses, develop and implement advanced methods, and collaborate across functions to strengthen in‑house analytical capabilities.
  • Conduct analysis of special project samples utilizing various instrumentation and wet chemical methods.
  • Perform method development, optimization, and implementation.
  • Knowledgeable and experienced in advanced instrumentation operation, maintenance and troubleshooting, such as UHPLC MS/MS and GC/MS and GC/MS Headspace analyzer.
  • Monitor scientific literature and new instrumentation and techniques to provide analytical capabilities for in-house special projects.
  • Reports to the Sr Manager, Analytical Science and performs analyses to complete various special projects within Analytical Science and with other Swedish Match and PMI departments.
Who we’re looking for:
  • PhD Degree in scientific discipline of chemistry or related field or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum five years as Analytical Chemist or comparable position/experience.
  • Must be able to effectively organize and implement special projects. Ability to instruct others in basic laboratory procedures and advanced instrument procedures. Must have maintenance and troubleshooting skills for advanced analytical instrumentation.
  • Experience to include Analytical Chemistry, Organic Chemistry, Gas Chromatography, Ion Chromatography, Methods Development, Microscopy, Ultra High Pressure Liquid Chromatography/Mass Spectroscopy, Gas Chromatography/Mass Spectroscopy, Design of Experiment, Problem Solving, Word, Excel, Powerpoint, LIMS, Chromeleon, Chemstation OpenLab CDS and ECM
  • Legally authorized to work in the U.S. (Required) Annual Base Salary Range: $96,000-$120,000
