Business Development Marketing - Senior Associate (Hybrid)

This is an exciting time for Capital One Card Partnerships, as we are looking to expand our business in the co-brand and private label credit card segment, not only through organic growth in existing programs, but also through the addition of new partners to our portfolio. The BD Marketing Senior Associate will be an integral part of our Card Partnerships Marketing team, reporting to the Senior Manager, Marketing and focusing on our efforts to win new co-brand and private label card partners. This role balances strategy and marketing storytelling. It offers a unique opportunity to help strategically assess new co-brand prospects and gain exposure to diverse industries. Additionally it provides experience in building compelling pitch materials outlining recommendations for value proposition development, and detailing our approach to customer lifecycle marketing, from acquisition to loyalty.

A successful candidate will have a solid foundational marketing background coupled with strong relationship management, organizational skills, and a problem solving mindset.

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct market research to inform deal analyses. Leveraging customer insights, competitor insights, analytics and creative thinking to inform pitches.

  • Support marketing plan development for new prospects, partnering with the analyst team to create bottoms-up forecasts of account growth

  • Develop and own account forecasting standardized framework, in partnership with marketing and analyst teams to create forecasts of new account growth

  • Collaborate with cross-functional areas in Card Partnerships and the broader organization on pitch materials, RFI/RFP responses, executive presentations, marketing overviews and other materials as requested.

  • Partner with the Brand Creative team to create advertising samples and demo videos

  • Support value proposition development for new prospects with benefits ideation and customer research. Identify ways to standardize and optimize our processes.

  • Work across the enterprise to identify and leverage Capital One-owned assets and unique opportunities to aid in winning new business.

  • Champion partner brands, ensuring that all recommendations are in line with their respective brand personas, voice and style guides.

  • Support transition newly-won business from the business development team to account management team.

  • Support marketing inputs during the contracting process and develop review materials to gain executive approval of programs agreements for newly-won business.

  • Exhibits an entrepreneurial and resilient mindset leveraging strong problem- solving skills to find solutions.

  • Maintains an understanding of external environmental trends, industry trends, competitor trends to spark fresh ideas and ensure team capabilities can meet the changing marketplace.

  • Financial services or financial consumer product experience


Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree or Military experience

  • At least 2 years of experience in business development, agency, consumer marketing or customer experience management.

  • At least 2 years experience in planning, executing and analyzing marketing programs

  • At least 2 years of experience managing creative processes, partnering with creative teams and developing creative optimization frameworks

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Marketing, Advertising or Consumer Behavior

  • Experience with cobrand or general purpose credit card business

  • Experience leading or supporting market research & insights and competitive assessment and analysis

The minimum and maximum full-time annual salaries for this role are listed below, by location. Please note that this salary information is solely for candidates hired to perform work within one of these locations, and refers to the amount Capital One is willing to pay at the time of this posting. Salaries for part-time roles will be prorated based upon the agreed upon number of hours to be regularly worked.

Chicago, IL: $87,700 - $100,100 for Sr. Associate, Marketing


McLean, VA: $96,500 - $110,100 for Sr. Associate, Marketing


Richmond, VA: $87,700 - $100,100 for Sr. Associate, Marketing









Candidates hired to work in other locations will be subject to the pay range associated with that location, and the actual annualized salary amount offered to any candidate at the time of hire will be reflected solely in the candidate's offer letter.

This role is also eligible to earn performance based incentive compensation, which may include cash bonus(es) and/or long term incentives (LTI). Incentives could be discretionary or non discretionary depending on the plan.
