Job description

SUMMARY

We are seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer to lead the design, analysis, and implementation of electrical systems for a variety of projects with a well established company in Charleston, SC. This role provides senior-level technical leadership, ensures compliance with industry standards and client requirements, mentors engineering staff, and leads electrical discipline work on medium to large projects. The Senior Engineer may also serve as Project Manager on select projects.

RESPONSIBILITES

  • Oversee electrical discipline design efforts for medium to large-scale projects, with minimal Revit involvement.
  • Assign and manage moderately complex to complex engineering tasks while providing technical direction and review.
  • Evaluate and approve advanced designs, calculations, simulations, and related technical work.
  • Review complex product submittals and shop drawings for compliance with project requirements.
  • Prepare thorough responses to detailed RFIs and technical inquiries.
  • Perform focused site visits to assess and resolve significant field-related issues.
  • Develop technical reports, project documentation, and supporting engineering materials.
  • Attend project meetings as a senior technical resource and subject matter expert.
  • Support successful project delivery by monitoring schedule, quality, and budget expectations.
  • Create and maintain project workplans, making adjustments as project scope or priorities change.
  • Coach and mentor engineers across experience levels on technical standards and best practices.
  • Provide leadership support to the engineering team and help guide overall project execution.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
  • 7 or more years of progressively responsible experience within the AEC industry, preferably supporting healthcare or higher education projects.
  • Strong proficiency using engineering design and analysis software platforms.
  • Thorough understanding of applicable industry codes, standards, and quality assurance/quality control practices.
  • Proven ability to lead cross-functional project teams while supporting staff growth, training, and mentorship.
  • Experience preparing technical documentation and contributing to project proposals.
