Position Summary

KBR is seeking a highly motivated Communications Satellite (COMSAT) Technical Analysis Engineer/Analyst to conduct technical intelligence analysis of foreign communications satellite systems and architectures. The selected candidate will evaluate adversary and competitor space-based communications capabilities, including satellite payloads, communications networks, ground segments, frequency usage, resiliency features, and future modernization initiatives. This position supports national-level intelligence assessments of foreign military, civil, commercial, and dual-use communications systems and their implications for global military operations, strategic competition, and national security. The successful candidate will apply engineering principles, scientific analysis, and intelligence tradecraft to assess current and emerging space communications capabilities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct technical analysis of foreign communications satellite (COMSAT) systems, constellations, and supporting infrastructure.
  • Assess satellite communications architectures, payload designs, transponder technologies, antenna systems, and network capabilities.
  • Analyze communications satellite performance, coverage, capacity, bandwidth, frequency utilization, and operational employment.
  • Characterize foreign military, commercial, and government satellite communications capabilities and modernization programs.
  • Evaluate emerging technologies including high-throughput satellites (HTS), software-defined payloads, optical communications, direct-to-device communications, and proliferated satellite architectures.
  • Assess foreign satellite communications resiliency, redundancy, anti-jam capabilities, cyber vulnerabilities, and survivability.
  • Analyze communications satellite launches, constellation deployments, and on-orbit operations.
  • Integrate technical measurements, intelligence reporting, scientific publications, and open-source information into comprehensive assessments.
  • Develop current and future capability assessments of foreign communications infrastructures and supporting space ecosystems.
  • Produce intelligence reports, technical studies, threat assessments, briefings, and executive-level products.
  • Collaborate with engineers, scientists, analysts, and mission partners across the Intelligence Community and Department of War.
  • Support strategic forecasting of foreign space communications capabilities and technology developments.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Physics, Systems Engineering, Computer Engineering, Telecommunications Engineering, or a related technical field.
  • 3+ years of experience in satellite communications, RF engineering, space systems, intelligence analysis, telecommunications, or related technical disciplines.
  • Active TS/SCI security clearance.
  • Knowledge of communications satellite fundamentals, RF systems, signal propagation, and satellite network architectures.
  • Experience analyzing technical data and producing written assessments.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, writing, and briefing skills.
  • Ability to work independently and on multidisciplinary technical teams.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience supporting NSIC, DIA, Space Force, Air Force, NSA, NGA, NRO, or other Intelligence Community organizations.
  • Knowledge of GEO, MEO, LEO, and HEO communications satellite architectures.
  • Experience with SATCOM systems, network analysis, telecommunications infrastructure, or RF signal analysis.
  • Familiarity with military satellite communications (MILSATCOM), commercial SATCOM, and protected communications systems.
  • Understanding of satellite payload design, beamforming, frequency reuse, and spectrum management.
  • Knowledge of foreign aerospace industries, satellite manufacturers, and communications technology development programs.
  • Experience producing intelligence assessments and technical reports for senior decision-makers.
