Job description

  • Analyze reliability and availability of inverter hardware and components
  • Perform root cause analysis for equipment failures and develop recommendations to optimize asset reliability
  • Coordinate remediation with external parties as needed
  • Lead and facilitate major repairs at operational sites
  • Evaluate operational sites for repowering and retrofit opportunities, including cost-benefit analysis
  • Implement practices to improve uptime and efficiency
  • Maintain asset master data accuracy and integrity in CMMS/ERP, including asset hierarchies, bills of materials, and criticality assessments
  • Develop and implement reliability strategies for PV+BESS inverter assets
  • Establish standard maintenance processes and hardware configurations
  • Gather and examine reliability failure data from operating sites and CMMS
  • Maintain a bad-actor list and facilitate recovery-plan discussions with O&M management
  • Identify root causes of performance problems and facilitate action plans
  • Collaborate with Operations and Engineering to troubleshoot projects and develop repair/remediation plans
  • Design system modifications and coordinate AES subcontractors and vendors
  • Lead FMEAs for critical assets and improve maintenance practices with operations personnel and third-party vendors
  • Perform Job Safety Assessments and Safety Walks
  • Implement electrical monitoring and thermal imaging practices
  • Scope and implement operations tools and software using SAP and work-management processes
  • Provide technical support during planned outages
  • Participate in growth planning, process-improvement task forces, and strategic planning
  • Connect Operations and project development by presenting issues addressable through improved design and equipment selection
  • Perform life-cycle cost modeling and provide reliability feedback during design reviews

Requirements
  • Undergraduate degree or equivalent experience in engineering or an equivalent technical field
  • 5+ years of professional engineering experience focused on measuring and maintaining equipment reliability, with emphasis on high-power electrical systems
  • Experience in renewable power generation and familiarity with PV+BESS Inverter technology, including PCS, BESS, PV Generation, DC Wiring, Controls, grid interactions, and HVAC
  • Experience leading root cause and failure modes analysis methods, including FMEA
  • Experience with reliability metrics including MTBF, MTTR, and Weibull
  • High proficiency reading and understanding equipment/facility schematics
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office
  • Experience using data analytics results and database tools
  • Experience with CMMS (SAP PM)
  • Experience with SCADA and condition monitoring systems
  • Dedication to a quality safety culture and incident-free work environment
  • Willingness to travel within the U.S. to support the PV+BESS asset portfolio
