Divisional Overview

The Risk Division is charged with managing the firm’s credit, market, liquidity, and operational risk. Whether assessing the creditworthiness of the firm’s counterparties, monitoring market risks associated with trading activities, or offering analytical and regulatory compliance oversight, our work contributes directly to the firm’s success. Department Overview

Credit Risk is responsible for opining on and managing trading & lending activities as well as evaluating/monitoring the financial health of the Firm’s many clients. Credit professionals work closely with many areas of the firm and gain diverse financial expertise as well as broad perspective on how the entire firm functions. The interaction with numerous departments and the range of projects that allow for a varied and multi-dimensional work environment.

Private Wealth Management Team Overview

The Private Wealth Management team is a specialist group within Credit that maintains primary responsibility for (i) evaluating new lending opportunities and managing loans to existing counterparties, (ii) evaluating and monitoring ongoing exposure levels for existing counterparties and (iii) engaging with internal and external stakeholders such as regulators. Given that high net worth individuals have varied sources of wealth, many major industry sectors and product types are covered by this team to meet client needs.

Key Responsibilities
  • Review private client securities-based lending and derivatives transactions, assess fit with risk appetite, and support approval of counterparty risk ratings by developing an independent view of financial information, collateral terms, and key documentation protections.
  • Support global credit team with regular reporting and ensuring compliance with internal and external key performance indicators.
  • Portfolio monitoring of active positions, surveilling industry and counterparty specific risks followed by recommending appropriate action.
  • Support senior leaders in responding to internal and external stakeholders regarding processes and policies, and participate in various projects associated with those asks or to improve and uplift existing practices.

Develop relationships with key industry participants inside and outside the division.

Basic Skills & Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree required; coursework or demonstrated interest in finance, accounting, economics, risk management, or a related analytical field preferred

Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present analysis clearly, concisely, and accurately

High attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment

Interest in developing credit risk expertise across private banking products, including securities-based lending, derivatives, structured lending and other private client exposures

Preferred Skills & Qualifications

Demonstrated intellectual curiosity and desire to build technical expertise in credit risk, private wealth lending products, and counterparty risk assessment

Strong work ethic, ownership mindset, and willingness to learn through transaction work, portfolio monitoring, and feedback from senior team members

Ability to identify key issues, ask thoughtful questions, and elevate risks or uncertainties appropriately

Collaborative approach, with the ability to work effectively across Risk, business teams, Legal, Operations, and other internal stakeholders

Clear, concise communication style and ability to tailor messaging to the audience

Comfort working with financial data, credit materials, and Excel-based analysis; familiarity with financial statement analysis or lending concepts is a plus
